Ms. Rippy has five years of experience as an attorney, and is currently a co-founder and shareholder of The Rippy + Sheikh Law Firm PC, a minority, women-owned law firm in Detroit. Established in January of 2019, The Rippy + Sheikh Law Firm PC is a small, boutique firm that focuses on criminal defense, family law, traffic and license matters, probate and estate planning and general corporate matters. Drawing inspiration from her father, who is also an attorney, Ms. Rippy began her legal career as an associate attorney at Bodman PLC, a corporate firm based in Detroit.
Ms. Rippy has aspired to become an entrepreneur ever since her childhood, and initially hoped to open a bar-b-que restaurant with her father. However, her father was not amused by the idea of starting such a risky enterprise. So instead, Ms. Rippy decided to study law but still held onto her entrepreneurial dreams, aspiring to open her own law firm one day. Ms. Rippy obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law.
In addition to practicing law, Ms. Rippy has contributed to her field and her community in several other ways. She has mentored underprivileged children in Detroit through VIP Mentoring, Inc., served on the board of the Wolverine Bar Association and the Michigan Arthritis Foundation, and is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan and the State Bar of Michigan. Looking toward the future, Ms. Rippy would like to continue growing her practice as well as expand her legal media brand, Ladies in Law.
