Supported by several decades of expertise in brain health and neuroscience, Dr. Daniel C. Andreae was the first executive director of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto. He led a successful 10-year campaign to secure legislation recognizing social work as a profession. Drawing upon numerous degrees and honorary doctorates within the realms of psychology, neurodegenerative diseases and education, he has maintained involvement with his local community as an award-winning advocate.

Dr. Andreae has been a highly respected educator and academic who has been an associate professor and fellow at Renison University of Waterloo and a Professor of Psychology at the University of Guelph Humber. Dr. Andreae has sponsored an innovative training program for surgeons and allied health professionals in robotic surgery at the University Health Network in Toronto, having also been the lead donor for the Da Vinci Robot at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Furthermore, he is a donor to the Stroke and Rehabilitation Center at Toronto Western Hospital and has been recognized as a champion for and advisory committee chair of the National Eating Disorder Center at Toronto General Hospital.

For Dr. Andreae, "education occurs when the head meets the heart and knowledge can be applied to enhance the quality of one's life on all levels, emotional, physical, spiritual and social and he emphasizes that learning takes place throughout our lives.
Previously Life Long learning may have been a luxury however, it is now required in this fast paced and increasingly complex world.

To promote Life Long Learning, Dr. Andreae sponsors an annual lecture at Laurentian University which is free and open to the public as well as a ground breaking lecture at the Michener Institute of the University Health Network on the future direction of the profession.

In recognition of his successes throughout his career, Dr. Andreae has received myriad accolades. In 2017, he notably earned the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Eating Disorder Information Centre, and a neuroscience laboratory was named in his honor at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Honored as Social Worker of the Year in 2016, Dr. Andreae also earned the Lyall Hallman Social Work Award in 2008 and an Award of Merit from the Brain Injury Association of Canada. Likewise, Wilfrid Laurier University honored him as Alumnus of the Year in 2001, and one of 100 Alumni of the Century. He was named Ontario Social Worker of the Year in 1999.

Other prestigious awards to Dr. Andreae's credit have included the Ontario Medal of Citizenship, the Inaugural June Callwood Outstanding Volunteer Award, the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Medal, the Canada 125 Medal, the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award and the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Waterloo. The recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ontario Association of Social Workers, he was also honored nationally by Princess Yasmin Khan and he has received the Lifetime Achievement from the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.

A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Andreae has been highlighted in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World, and he was named a Worldwide Humanitarian and Industry Leader in 2018. Featured in Marquis Millennium Magazine in 2018, he has also been recognized by The Wall Street Journal and on the Thomas Reuters billboard in New York City's Times Square. Furthermore, Dr. Andreae was bestowed with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.
