Gary L. Jones Celebrated for Dedication to the Fields of Martial Arts and Law Enforcement

    ROCKWALL, TX, November 16, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gary L. Jones has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After serving in the United States navy for six years during the Viet Nam War, for 34 years he excelled In varying roles with Texas Instruments, Thomas Industries, Lucent Technologies, and Varo LLC, designing military power supplies and missile launchers. He starting out as an engineering aide, then became an Associate Electrical Engineer, to then being a Manufacturing Engineer, and on to Field Service Engineer.

Throughout his life, he was inspired to become a Police Officer, so when the opportunity presented itself, he pursued a career as an officer at the age of 54. He was the oldest man in the Police Academy. His first job was at Parkland Hospital, a county hospital. He then moved on to the Southern Methodist University Police Department where he retired after seven years, in 2012. During that period he receive two life saving awards, and was named Officer of the Year in 2011. Today, Mr. Jones excels as a Deputy Sheriff for Collin County, Texas, where he received the Reserve Deputy of the Year Award for 2019, and as a Mesquite Deputy Marshal. He is also returning to work for Southern Methodist University as a part time campus police officer.

Mr. Jones started his Martial Arts career in 1994. He received his first Black Belt in 1998. He has since gone on to become a sixth degree Master in Tae Kwon Do, opening his school in 2003. Phoenix Martial Arts Center is a family-oriented school providing education in Tae Kwon Do, Modern Arnis, and Combat Hapkido. An expert in his field, he completed two years of college coursework through Texas A&M University. Additionally, he aligns himself with the USTA via the Phoenix Martial Arts Center.

Outside of his work, Mr. Jones remains affiliated with the American Legion Post 117. In the coming years, Mr. Jones intends to continue fostering his love of martial arts education through the Phoenix Martial Arts Center, and continuing to work in law enforcement.
