Paul R. Hegland has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Paul R. Hegland turned his passion for music into a successful career

FARGO, ND, November 17, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Paul R. Hegland has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Growing up as the youngest of four children, Mr. Hegland was always surrounded by music. His parents were singers, and his siblings were involved in music programs at school. He began playing the piano because his older sisters also played. In school, Mr. Hegland was intrigued by the research being done on how music affects both sides of the brain, and how music allowed students to excel in other subject areas. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education at Iowa State University and a Master of Music degree in Music History from Northwestern University.

Mr. Hegland began his career as assistant director of development of the Ravinia Festival. He also served as special assistant to the president and secretary of the board of trustees of Carthage College and as a kantor at Lamb of God Lutheran Church. Today Mr. Hegland serves as executive director of the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra. In his current position, he oversees a small staff and coordinates with the music director. He also coordinates schedules and serves as the public face of the organization. He attributes his professional success to his passion for his work. Mr. Hegland was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Breakfast Club of Kenosha, and was very active professionally with the Association of Governing Boards and the Association of College and University Policy Administrators. He also served on the boards of the Kenosha County Workforce Development Office, the Kenosha Public Museums, and the Kenosha Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hegland plans to lead the orchestra toward a more prominent position in a larger region. He also aims to expand educational outreach programs, bringing classical music to a younger and more diverse audience.
