Sylvia Tykie Ganz Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Ganz has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the art industry

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, November 18, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Sylvia Tykie Ganz with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Ganz celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Ganz is a talented artist and preservationist who has drawn international recognition for her work. Best known for her paintings, which feature natural scenes that encompass colorful and whimsical landscapes, her muse focuses upon an array of animals, such as wolves, birds, ducks and other wildlife. Over the past two decades, Ms. Ganz has also taken up woodcarving. Her collection of miniatures has focused mainly of birds, which has enabled her to attain a better understanding of their anatomy. She has also become a national miniature show judge and juror throughout the nation.

Ms. Ganz's work has been displayed at various venues, including Arts for the Parks. One of her paintings was notably commissioned and published by Lloyd Ellison Graphics, with proceeds being donated to the Palm Beach Zoo in Palm Beach, Florida. Ms. Ganz's miniature wood sculpture, "Woodland Scene," is also permanently displayed at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, and her "Easter Wooden Egg" was commissioned by First Lady Nancy Reagan.

Most notably, Ms. Ganz was selected to serve as an artist-in-residence at the Isle Royale National Park in Michigan for three weeks in 1996. Throughout the course of her stay, she lodged in a cabin with no running water or electricity. The connection Ms. Ganz forged with nature, however, enabled her to paint several amazing pieces that were later sold to benefit the parks. One such painting, "Spirit of Isle Royale," features a wolf native to the National Park, and has been included in "The Island Within Us," a compendium of the work of over 30 artists in residence.

Coming of age in a small town in Long Island, New York, Ms. Ganz was encouraged by her mother and grandmother to exercise her artistic abilities. She fondly recalls drawing birds and other animals on a chalkboard, which eventually led to her mother enrolling her within a local art class. Following her graduation from high school, Ms. Ganz studied various subjects at the State University of New York College at Cortland between 1951 and 1953.

Ms. Ganz has been actively engaged with various professional organizations relative to her field. Among them, she is a member of the Miniature Art Society of Florida, the Miniature Artists of America, the Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society, the Society of Animal Artists and the Cider Painters of America. Ms. Ganz is also a founding member, treasurer and Top 10 Founding Member of the Artist for Conservation.

Celebrated for her success, Ms. Ganz has been the recipient of multiple awards and recognitions. To wit, she was named to the Top 200 in the Arts for the Parks Competition in 1991, 1996 and 1999 and was listed among the Top 100 Artists in the Arts for the Parks Competition in 1992 and 1993. Ms. Ganz later received a Best in Show from the Loxahatchee National Wildlife in 2002, 2017 and 2019 and received a First Place Still Life Award for "Shades of Blue" from Cider Paints of America in 2019.
