Mr. Iverson has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of middle and high school mathematics and science education

BROOKINGS, SD, November 23, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present John W. Iverson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Iverson celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Iverson's long and distinguished career in education began in the fall of 1973, when he was acquired by Brookings School District in Brookings, South Dakota, as a seventh and eighth grade science teacher. Throughout the course of his three decades with the school system, he taught sixth, ninth and 10th grade science, as well as eighth grade mathematics and algebra. An influential educator and mentor, Mr. Iverson also coached middle school basketball from 1973 to 2006 and coached high school track and field between 1975 and 1980, as well as from 1987 until 2006.

Born in Brookings, South Dakota, Mr. Iverson was encouraged by his parents and older siblings, as well as several of his schoolteachers, to study hard and focus on attaining good grades. After graduating from high school, he was accepted to South Dakota State University, where he acquired a Bachelor of Science in 1973. Since retiring, Mr. Iverson has become deeply involved in ministry work. He was notably ordained as a transitional deacon by the Catholic diocese of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 2012.

Finding great satisfaction in both teaching and coaching, Mr. Iverson played an instrumental role on behalf of his students. To wit, many of them went on to receive advanced doctorate and medical degrees. Wonderfully proud to have contributed to their successes, Mr. Iverson has, himself, been the recipient of several accolades. To wit, he earned a Ralph Ginn Award in 2019, which is notably presented to coaches who have led distinguished careers as graduates of South Dakota State University. He was also named to Outstanding Young Men of America in 1979.
