Meisenheimer Sr., PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Meisenheimer celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Now a professor emeritus of organic chemistry, Dr. Meisenheimer enjoyed a tenured profession in academia for more than three decades. Retiring shortly thereafter in 1999, Dr. Meisenheimer greatly enjoyed teaching a subject that he admired so much. He also relished collaborating with students that were deeply vested in their work, many of whom went on to find incredible jobs in the field. As a launch weather officer for Explorer 1 in Cape Canaveral, Florida, which launched America's first satellite into space, he was notably responsible for delaying liftoff for two days due to his forecast of extreme upper air wind shear. Honored to return to Cape Canaveral 60 years later for an anniversary ceremony, Dr. Meisenheimer assisted in the launch of GovSat-1 with Mike McAleenan.

A graduate of Evansville College, Dr. Meisenheimer received a Bachelor of Arts in 1954. He subsequently pursued a Doctor of Philosophy at Indiana University, earning his degree in 1963. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Meisenheimer was certified as a U.S. Air Force meteorologist through the University of Chicago in 1955.

Dr. Meisenheimer is a professional member of the Kentucky Corps of Longriflemen, an organization devoted to preserving the history of the Kentucky rifle and black powder shooting. From 1964 to 1970, he was active as a member of the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Longrifle Team, which resulted in him being commissioned as an Honorary Kentucky Colonel by Governor Edward Breathitt in 1967. Two years later, Dr. Meisenheimer also won the Indiana Open Flintlock Championship.

Celebrated for his military career, Mr. Meisenheimer received a Superior Performer Medal from the commander of the 45th Weather Squadron in 2018. In recognition of his teaching career, he was acknowledged with a Teaching Excellence Award from Eastern Kentucky National Alumni Association in 1989. Many years later, EKU also named him as an Iconic Professor in 2020. Dr. Meisenheimer's name, photograph and biography were also displayed at the entrance of the university's organic chemistry laboratory in the college of science building.
