PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, November 27, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Ignacia B. Mallon with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Mallon celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After teaching in her native Chile for more than a decade, Ms. Mallon relocated to the U.S., where she continued to devote her career to teaching English as a second language and improving education for lower class children and the immigrant community. Hired as a Spanish teacher at Newton High School in Massachusetts in 1957, she later spent time abroad in Pakistan as both a principal and Spanish teacher at the Karachi American High School. Other noteworthy roles to Ms. Mallon's credit have included academic positions as a professor at Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as the director of education for the Associated Day Care for Greater Boston, and, most notably, as an educational consultant for the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee, where she was responsible for the development of early-education programs for students in remote rural villages.

Ms. Mallon often consulted on behalf of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. She also provided her expertise as a consultant of bilingual education for the Massachusetts State Board of Education, where she was instrumental in implementing the very first bilingual program. Additionally, she collaborated with the Venezuelan Guayana Corporation, where she assisted with the provision of social services in low-income areas of Ciudad Guayana. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Mallon organized various conferences for the United Nations Children's Fund in Nicaragua and Colombia, directed workshops on techniques for both reading and Spanish through the Boston Public Schools, was a guest speaker of bilingual education courses at conferences at Framingham State College, the University of Massachusetts and other institutions, and founded the Multi Community Center.

In 2020, Ms. Mallon co-authored a book with Richard Mallon, "Nacha." A personal story, it expounds upon her life as a woman from Chile who was determined to teach and make a difference. To support her professional endeavors, Ms. Mallon has been a respected member of the International Reading Association.

Ms. Mallon received a degree in English as a second language and philosophy at the University of Chile in 1945. Continuing her studies in the U.S., she subsequently attained a Master of Arts in child psychology at Smith College in 1947 and studied for a Doctor of Education at Harvard University in 1949.
