Between 2017 and 2019, he was the associate program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and educational director of infectious disease. Since 2019, he has been the program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, chair of the Internal Medicine Department, medical director of infection prevention and SSM System Sepsis physician lead. Alongside these professional pursuits, Dr. Lacasse has served as an infectious disease consultant since 2009.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Lacasse pursued a formal education at the University of Montreal in Canada, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry in 1995. Two years later, he received a Master of Science in biomedical sciences in 1998. Relocating to Hungary, he attended the University of Debrecen Medical School before moving to the Netherlands Antilles, where he earned a Doctor of Medicine from the SABA University School of Medicine in 2003. Moving to Missouri in the United States, he completed a residency in internal medicine in 2006, escalating to chief resident until 2007. From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Lacasse undertook an infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Licensed to practice medicine Missouri, Dr. Lacasse has maintained affiliation with numerous pertinent medical organizations. A fellow of the American College of Physicians, he is also a member of the Alliance for Academic Medicine, Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease Society of America, American Medical Association and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. Likewise, Dr. Lacasse has contributed myriad articles to professional journals, such as Life Sciences, the American Journal of Physiology, the Journal of Community Hospital Intern Medical Perspectives and The Perinatal Times. He has also authored abstracts, presented posters and delivered oral presentations to several hospitals and other medical facilities.
Well regarded for his indelible contributions to the field, Dr. Lacasse has accrued numerous accolades since the inception of his career. In 2019, he earned the Exceptional Performance Award from SSM Saint Mary's Hospital, having previously been acknowledged as the Attending Physician Teacher of the Year by the IM Residency Program, in 2017. That same year, he was recognized for Outstanding Teaching in Family Medicine by Saint Louis University. Furthermore, Dr. Lacasse was named as the Attending Physician of the Year twice in 2010 and 2013 by Saint Mary's Health Center.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Lacasse intends to continue practicing medicine and serve his hospital at a regional level. Additionally, he desires to acquire further expertise in his field through more academic degrees in an effort to escalate to the ranks of chief medical officer or vice president of medical affairs. In his spare time, Dr. Lacasse enjoys traveling, as well as ice hockey.
