Jim Hill has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Mr. Hill's art reflects his dedication to his community and experience

MARIETTA, GA, December 03, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jim Hill has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Noted as an artist, humanitarian and an educator, Mr. Hill was perhaps more aptly described by UPN 9 as a "one man community service center," having dedicated his life to the betterment of the lives of others. For decades, he has advocated for, and contributed to, those in need, whether it be the homeless population within the inner city to at-risk youth to offenders struggling to rehabilitate and adjust to their surroundings. Refusing to accept money from foundations or government institutions, as he is unwilling to compromise or corrupt his vision, he has strived to help others with his own time, sweat, blood and determination. In addition to his philanthropic measures, Mr. Hill has also gone above and beyond to share his unique perspective and struggles with the world through a number of artistic mediums.

Raised in the Farragut Houses, a public housing project in Brooklyn, Mr. Hill took a vow of poverty upon his graduation from college with the intention of devoting his life to making a difference within his community. Initially garnering success as a fashion model during his formative years, he decided to quit modeling to the use of his image to propagate cigarettes and alcohol, citing the addiction problems afflicting his community and impressionable youth. Taking his destiny into his own hands, Mr. Hill began producing artwork, which included sketches and paintings that reflected the experience of living as a Black man in America, and utilized the money from the sale of his artwork to fund his community programs in New York City, which offered meals and shelter for the homeless, self-esteem building educational programs for school children and anti-pregnancy programs for teenagers.

During his time as a social action minister operating out of a church basement, Mr. Hill further aided the youth of New York as a teacher with the New York City Department of Education for more than 30 years. Following his retirement from the field of education, he has been active as the owner of the Jim Hill House, a non-profit organization helping disadvantaged children that operates out of Marietta, Georgia, and has crafted beautiful, affecting mosaics as an artist with Jim Hill Productions. In recent years, Mr. Hill has exhibited his work in a number of retrospectives, including at Douglas Stratton Fine Art Gallery in Atlanta.

Mr. Hill's soulful art has not been limited to galleries and commissions, however. He assembled and published his artwork in the book "Historical Blues… 100 Stories and 100 Pictures," which is available through his website, JimHillMaster-Pieces.com. He has also detailed his personal and professional experiences in his autobiography, "Born to Be," which he hopes to release as an audiobook in 2021. Notably, he developed the first parenting magazine for African Americans in the late 1980s, "Honey Child," which received a $1 million offer from Time Warner, Inc. Furthermore, Mr. Hill starred in Paul De Silva's skewering film about drug violence and addiction in the inner city, "Crackdown: Big City Blues," which received a 2018 remastered release from The Film Detective.

Mr. Hill has supported his career with an impressive academic background that includes a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Francis College, a Master of Arts in political science from Long Island University and a Master of Arts in administrative supervision from Brooklyn College. A doctoral candidate in administrative supervision at Yeshiva University, he had also obtained an advanced training certificate in school-based alcohol and drug prevention from Adelphi University. Mr. Hill remains affiliated with the United Federation of Teachers, and taught science outside the classroom through the production of his television program, "Myself and Others."

Honored as an Outstanding Educator in Who's Who in America, Mr. Hill was proudly recognized by the United Nations for his anti-Apartheid poster. He has also been presented with the Delaney Speaking Award from Saint Francis College, an Award for "Mama's Song" and First Placement in the Weeksville Art Contest. Likewise, he was lauded by Omega Psi Phi fraternity for expanding opportunities for emerging professionals in the field of advertising. Mr. Hill has also been profiled for his humanitarian ventures by multiple newspapers and media outlets.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Hill hopes to introduce his mosaics and original art, priced between $3,000 and $50,000, to art galleries and museums around the world, directing his profits to continue supporting the Jim Hill House. He also aims to establish a gallery of his own to help disadvantaged children create art while teaching them about America's hidden history, which is not found in school textbooks. Moreover, Mr. Hill plans to continue supporting the homeless while fostering the next generation to give back to their community however they can.
