A dedicated military veteran, Dr. Talbot earned an undergraduate degree in political science, history and philosophy from the University of Massachusetts, from which he graduated within three years. Upon his commencement, he furthered his education, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in political science from Notre Dame University. Due to the influence of several fantastic teachers, Dr. Talbot learned that political science encompasses numerous disciplines, including geography, topography, anthropology, history, the arts and foreign languages.
Backed by his doctoral degree, Dr. Talbot began working as a professor with the University of Alabama by teaching military personnel overseas. He subsequently pursued a career in family medicine before devoting himself to the military after the events of September 11, 2001. At the age of 59, he was assigned to Fort Drum in Jefferson County, New York and continued to practice medicine in the area until he was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. With the military, he attained the rank of a lieutenant colonel. After his recent passing, Dr. Talbot was buried with military honors for his dedication to his country.
