An esteemed educator, author and expert in American history with a career spanning over 25 years, Dr. Mieczkowski has served as a University Professor and the Director of the Roosevelt School at Long Island University since in 2020. His distinguished career in academia notably included a nearly 20-year tenured position at Dowling College in New York, with which he garnered valuable expertise as a history professor and department chairman until 2016, when Dowling closed. In his tenure at Dowling, he developed and implemented numerous courses while gaining extensive experience in his field. From 2016-2020, Dr. Mieczkowski was recruited as a visiting professor at the University of Central Florida and a visiting eminent scholar at the University of North Florida. His teaching repertoire comprises more than twenty unique courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and he has also lectured extensively at high schools.

For more than 10 years, Dr. Mieczkowski excelled as an Advanced Placement U.S. History Exam reader and test development contributor with the Educational Testing Service. He was also active as a test development committee chairman for the College Level Equivalency Program between 2008 and 2018. Dr. Mieczkowski worked as a consultant on behalf of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Museum in Kansas and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Michigan in addition to a lecturer at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library in Michigan.

As a talented researcher and writer who specializes in U.S. presidential history, Dr. Mieczkowski has authored three books: The Routledge Historical Atlas of Presidential Elections in 2001, Gerald Ford and the Challenges of the 1970s in 2005 and Eisenhower's Sputnik Moment: The Race for Space and World Prestige in 2013. In 2020, he completed a second edition of The Routledge Historical Atlas of Presidential Elections. He has also written an Instructor's Manual and Test Bank to accompany the 1997 textbook American in Modern Times. He has contributed chapters to several books, and his articles have appeared in Newsday, American History magazine, and other significant publications. Dr. Mieczkowski additionally thrived as a Writing Fellow with Oxford University Press and authored more than 40 biographies for its American National Biography.

As a prominent figure in his field, Dr. Mieczkowski provided live commentary for WJXT TV in Jacksonville, Florida during the 2017 presidential inauguration. He has made additional appearances on ABC, CNN, CSPAN and other news networks. Dr. Mieczkowski continues to provide commentary for "Richard French Live" on the Regional News Network.

A native of Ithaca, New York, Dr. Mieczkowski initially earned an undergraduate degree at Ithaca College in 1987, graduating summa cum laude and being honored as class marshal. He continued his studies at Columbia University, where he obtained a Master of Arts in 1989. Dr. Mieczkowski earned his Ph.D. in history from Columbia in 1995.

To support his career, Dr. Mieczkowski has been affiliated with the Organization of American Historians, the American Historical Association and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. Notably he secured a research grant from the Gerald R. Ford Foundation in 2003 and the Eisenhower Foundation in 2005. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Mieczkowski has been cited in the 59th and 60th editions of Who's Who in America and the seventh and eighth editions of Who's Who in American Education.
