Mr. Sankovich currently excels as a Catholic cemetery executive who had previously made an impact in religious services and education over the course of 50 years. For 30 years, he has found success as the owner of Joseph B. Sankovich & Associates, which is locationed in Tucson, Arizona. Serving dioceses and archdioceses throughout the country and in Canada, Mr. Sankovich offers management expertise and training Catholic diocesan and parochial cemetery programs and support services.

During the early 1970s, Mr. Sankovich served as associate pastor at Saint Mary's Church in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania and Sacred Heart Church in Dearborn, Michigan. He subsequently flourished as the director of Mount Kelly Cemetery in Dearborn, an admissions counselor at the University of Detroit, the director of religious education at Saint James Church in Ferndale, Michigan and an executive with Diocesan Cemetery Consultants in Wyoming, Pennsylvania. In 1986, Mr. Sankovich relocated to Seattle where he began working as the director of cemeteries for the Archdiocese of Seattle.

Throughout his extensive career, Mr. Sankovich had the opportunity to teach and consult for various organizations. He was additionally appointed on the Task Force on Cremation Bishops' Committee for the Liturgy of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. The former interim director of cemeteries for the Diocese of Saginaw and the Diocese of Springfield, Massachusetts, Mr. Sankovich thrived as the founding director and member of the governance committee of Catholic Cemeteries of the West, among other noteworthy positions.

As a committed member of his local community, Mr. Sankovich was formerly active as the president, secretary and treasurer of Estates at River Ranch Homeowner Association in Tucson between 1999 and 2014. He has also volunteered and advocated extensively for the homosexual population. The author and editor of the 1992 book, "Directory of Western Catholic Cemeteries," he published several magazines, handbooks, newsletters and journal articles. Most notably, Mr. Sankovich released his autobiography "Ego Eimi," in 2019, which tells the story of how he resigned from the Catholic priesthood after four years and later enjoyed a cemetary-oriented ministerial career within the Catholic church.

Mr. Sankovich studied at Saint Francis Seminary from 1964 to 1968 while earning an undergraduate degree at Saint Francis College in 1966. He subsequently completed postgraduate coursework at Saint John Provincial Seminary prior to obtaining a master's degree at the University of Detroit in 1973. Likewise, Mr. Sankovich was certified as a professional consultant, a Catholic cemetery executive and a cemetery executive.

Aligned with several industry-related organizations, Mr. Sankovich is a former member of the board of directors of the Washington Internment Association. Other affiliations to his credit include the National Catholic Cemetery Conference and the International Cemetery and Funeral Association. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Sankovich has been featured in over 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World.
