John E. Langlois Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Langlois with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Langlois celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Now retired, Mr. Langlois served as the owner and chairperson of Trinity Trust Company, Ltd. in Guernsey, England, for more than 15 years. Established in 2003, he provided an array of trust and corporate administration services to clients worldwide until 2020. Mr. Langlois previously spent three decades in law as a senior partner at Carey Langlois, subsequently Carey Olsen, the largest law firm in the Channel Islands. His success as an attorney, which focused on trust and corporate law, intellectual property law and captive insurance, was predicated on putting his clients first.

When he was not practicing law, Mr. Langlois spent much of his time providing his expertise as a non-executive director for several banks, insurance companies and other organizations. He also consulted for Carey Olsen for several years after retirement between 2003 to 2007. Mr. Langlois has been active as a senior member of the Guernsey Bar since 2002. In 2004, he authored his first book, "Guidelines for Guernsey Directors." He has also contributed chapters to several books by other authors, as well as scholarly articles to various professional journals.

Mr. Langlois' civic duty has included serving as an elected politician for nearly two and a half decades in the Guernsey parliament between 1980 and 2004. During his tenure, he held several senior presidencies and served on the senior committee (the advisory and finance committee). Among other political duties, Mr. Langlois excelled as the president of the state's civil defense committee from 1984 to 2004 and twice served as the president of the state's island development committee between 1990 and 1996 and from 2000 until 2004.

Mr. Langlois was equally involved in charitable work, especially in regards to social issues and human rights. He was the chairperson of both the Advocates International in Washington and Advocates Europe from 2001 to 2004 and served as the co-founder of Care for Children, an organization devoted to working with orphans in China, between 1998 and 2005. Mr. Langlois is also the former treasurer of the World Evangelical Alliance and the former chairperson of the World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission.

Mr. Langlois pursued a formal education at the London School of Theology, receiving an associate's degree in 1969. Continuing his studies, he attained a diploma in theology in 1969, followed by a Bachelor of Laws, with honors, at the University of London in 1970. Mr. Langlois was subsequently admitted to practice by the English Bar in 1970 and the Guernsey Bar in 1971, and became a certified barrister through Gray's Inn in London and an advocate through the Royal Court of Guernsey in 1971.

To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Langlois is a fellow, chartered arbitrator and mediator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also a member of the Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva, which is responsible for the oversight of intellectual property laws all over the world. Well regarded for his exemplary talents and performance in the field, Mr. Langlois was recognized as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2005 for his services to the community. He was awarded a Bachelor of Divinity, with honors, degree from the University of London in 2017.
