Daniel Stephen Looney Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    MERIDIAN, ID, December 08, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Daniel Stephen Looney with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

An accomplished listee, Mr. Looney celebrates a lifetime of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As a professional, award winning fine artist and artistic entrepreneur, Mr. Looney is renowned for his expertise in watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, pen and ink and collage.

Since 1975, he has created over 3,000 original paintings, sketches and collages which have been purchased by his loyal clientele throughout the United States and foreign countries.

In 1976 and 1977, respectively, Mr. Looney received the 40th and 41st Annual Exhibit Award by the Boise Gallery of Art and, in 1982, a Merit Award as the Artist of the Month by the Northwest Watercolor Society.

In 1982, Mr. Looney became the founding President and charter member of the Idaho Watercolor Society and later joined the Plein Air Painters of Idaho, Magic Valley Arts Council and the Northwest Watercolor Society.

In 1982, Mr. Looney traveled to Europe. He presented an art painting demonstration and donated the work to the Biomedical Research Institute (BIOMED) in Diepenbeek (near Hasselt) Belgium. He traveled extensively, presenting artistic demonstrations and one man shows in five countries. He visited the Rijksmuseum National Museum and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam; the Louvre and the Orsay Impressionist Museum in Paris; The Tate Gallery and The National Art Gallery in London. On his return trip back to the States, he visited The Art Institute of Chicago in Illinois and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California.

In 1988, Mr. Looney donated three original paintings to a Boise Idaho Mayor to give as gifts to the Mayor of Brighton, England, the Lord Mayor of London, and the Deputy Mayor of Paris, France.

In 1990 and 1991, Mr. Looney was listed in Boise Magazine as one of Boise's Favorite Artists, Boise, Idaho.

Also in 1991, utilizing his expertise to support his local community, Mr. Looney was appointed as the chairman of the Boise, Idaho Centennial Celebration.

In 1999, as artist, publisher and book designer, Mr. Looney self published ARTWORKS, a creative portrayal of his art, featuring 52 pages of images, a lengthy interview, and detailed narrative on how each painting was created. Each book is signed and numbered by the Artist and has an original watercolor painting on the front cover. Individual book pages can be signed by the artist then framed and given as gifts. A Thank You page for each purchaser is included with the artist's updated contact information for future reference. Nearly one hundred copies of ARTWORKS have been given as gifts to American presidents, vice presidents, well known people and their families, and generously donated to numerous public libraries, foundations, historical societies in all 50 states in America, many foreign countries, the United States Copyright Office and Library of Congress. Letters received from recipients, including American presidents, are especially meaningful and carefully stored in his archives.

From 2000 and 2010, Mr. Looney excelled as the owner and principal artist of the Dan Looney Gallery in Garden City, Idaho and the Dan Looney Gallery and Studio in McCall, Idaho. He continues to create his unique style of artwork in his home studio in Meridian, Idaho.

In 2018, among his most treasured accomplishments, was Idaho Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts for Fine Art Professional and Artistic Entrepreneurship.

In 2020, Mr. Looney received another outstanding award, the Silver and Gold Award for Lifetime Achievement from the University of Idaho Alumni Association, where he graduated in 1968 with a BS degree in Finance. As a well known alumni of University of Idaho, Mr. Looney donated a framed original painting to Philip Charles Habib, 1942 University of Idaho alumni, during an Alumni event in Idaho. Mr. Habib was the most famous career diplomat in the 1980s and one of the University's most famous and respected graduates.

Recognized for his whimsical winter and summer landscapes of the countryside, Mr. Looney has recreated such locales as Redfish Lake in Idaho, the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington DC and scenes of the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. His colorful, one-of-a-kind canvas prints, which have been on display in exhibitions throughout the country in Arizona, Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington and Utah, have also been displayed abroad in Belgium. Mr. Looney's work has been featured on the cover of The Advocate magazine and in over 20 other professional magazines. Mr. Looney created a lithographic art print of PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center, which is in Florence, Oregon.

Enjoying the challenges that come with being an artist, he acknowledged early in his career that it requires much hard work to become recognized in the field. Working diligently to make a name for himself, Mr. Looney's extensive portfolio includes thousands of paintings, having averaged 100 paintings per year over the past 40 years.
