Enjoying a long and successful career in communications, Ms. Stier began working for GTE Corporation in 1974. Bought out by Verizon and later Frontier Communications, she is now a Facility Manager of Centralized Services for Invoice Processing and System Support, a position she was promoted to in 2018. Ms. Stier, who began working in her field to remain busy while her husband was on active duty in the U.S. Navy, came to enjoy a tenured career that she is very proud of today. Her continued success has been predicated on her worth ethic, having developed a reputation for encouraging and assisting her employees. Believing in the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, she stresses the significance of effective communication and a balance between one's personal and professional life.
Ms. Stier studied at Purdue University, where she earned an Associate of Arts in Supervision. She completed an additional college year before placing her education on hold for her husband to complete his education and to devote more time in raising their 2 daughters. To support her career, she obtained a real estate license and a professional membership with the American Business Women's Association.
In her early career, Ms. Stier traveled the United States, implementing, developing, supporting, and training on various software systems for the Facilities Department. After the sudden death of her husband in 1990, Ms. Stier continued raising her 2 children while advancing in her career. It was not uncommon to find her working in the office on a Saturday with her children close by. She also managed a building dispatch center, capital and expense invoice processing centers, and was one of ten area Building Automation Supervisors (BAS) before accepting a national position in Facility System Support. Recognized for exceptional performance and innovative contributions, she was presented with a national "Employee of the Year" award, Employee Excellence Awards, bonuses, and a Presidential Leadership Bronze Award.
Ms. Stier remained active in her church and taught Sunday School for kindergartens. Her hobbies include sewing, crafts, and raising dogs. Ms. Stier retired from Verizon in 2001 and returned to Verizon in 2003. Both her children are college graduates, obtaining degrees in Graphic Design and in Retail Merchandising. In the next few years, Ms. Stier plans to retire and begin performing volunteer work within her community. She is presently a board member of the Brittany Village Association and a Eucharistic Minister.
