Mrs. Miera is renowned as an artist and a retired art educator with more than 45 years of innovation in her medium to her credit. Inspired by her native New Mexico landscape, she felt a calling to create at a young age. She initially pursued an education at the University of New Mexico, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1973 and a Master of Arts in 1976. Mrs. Miera subsequently concluded her academic efforts with an Educational Specialist degree in school administration in 1984.

Mrs. Miera continued to work in curriculum development and teacher review for Albuquerque Public School Systems following her departure from the classroom, and still occasionally participates in shows and art lessons. Notably, her work has been exhibited internationally, and is included in the collections of the Museum of Art in Toledo, OH, and the University of New Mexico.
