James Harvey with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Harvey celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Harvey is the president of Harvey Associates in Caledonia, Michigan, a business management consulting firm that offers writing, speaking and consultative services to churches and religious organizations. Established in 1986, he formerly represented McManis Associates Inc. in Washington for more than a decade as a senior vice president and partner. Additionally, Dr. Harvey enjoyed the opportunity to represent Associated Sports Fans in Washington as its president between 1989 and 1990, while simultaneously supporting his own organization.

Having garnered a laudable reputation over 20 years in education and academic administration, Dr. Harvey originally taught and coached students at Bellflower Christian High School in Bellflower, California, from 1953 until 1957. Transitioning into higher education, he was selected as the director of counseling at Grand Rapids Junior College in Michigan. Over the next decade, Dr. Harvey continually progressed, serving as the dean and vice president at two different colleges in Michigan and Illinois. In 1971, he reached the pinnacle of his academic career as the president of Prince George's Community College in Largo, Maryland, where he distinguished himself for two years.

Dr. Harvey's career as a consultant has included aiding colleges and universities with various management issues. Enjoying a natural progression from his years in the field, his decision to become a teacher stemmed from his interest in sports and the desire to coach. Having been advised to continue his education after earning his bachelor's degree, Dr. Harvey was fortunate to obtain a position as a graduate assistant, he continued his studies and advanced his career from a teacher to a counselor and, ultimately, an administrator.

A gifted writer, Dr. Harvey published his first book in 1976. Titled "Managing Colleges and Universities by Objectives," the text focused on management consulting and was very well received. Shortly thereafter, he released "Zero Base Budgeting in Colleges and Universities" in 1977, as well as numerous articles in peer reviewed journals. Dr. Harvey also authored more than 10 additional books on Christian living topics between 2000 and 2009, including his most recent, titled "Run Thru the Tape."

As a local leader, Dr. Harvey has supported the Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, and the Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as a former trustee. He was also an elder and member of the eastern district's executive board at Saint Paul's Moravian Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. To support his profession, Dr. Harvey has been an involved as a member of several prominent industry-related organizations, including the American Society of Personnel Administration, the Michigan College Personnel Association, the Illinois Community College Administrators Association, the American Society of Training and Development, and the National Speakers Association. He was also a member of the Arlington Heights, Illinois, chapter of Rotary International.

Dr. Harvey is a graduate of Hope College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1952. Shortly thereafter, he earned a Master of Arts in administration and a Doctor of Philosophy in counseling at Michigan State University in 1953 and 1960, respectively. As a testament to his professional and personal achievements, Dr. Harvey was first acknowledged in 1969 with a Distinguished Service Award from the American College Personnel Association. He was also elected to the Valley Christian High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013.
