Shirley Ann Ross McCracken, PhD, Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    ANAHEIM, CA, December 15, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Shirley Ann Ross McCracken with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. McCracken celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Now active as an educational consultant after teaching in the field for many years, Dr. McCracken concluded her career in the classroom in 1996 as an instructor at the Orange Catechetical Institute. Born in Rochester, NY, she initially taught and chaired the mathematics department at Mount Carmel High School, which is located just an hour from her hometown in Auburn, NY. Subsequently hired to teach at the Anaheim Union High School District in Anaheim, CA, in 1969, Dr. McCracken excelled at the high school for over a decade before becoming the director of religious education at San Antonio Church in Anaheim Hills.

Additionally, Dr. McCracken worked as a workshop supervisor for the Jewish Vocational Service in Milwaukee and a rehabilitation counselor for the Curative Workshop in Milwaukee. Involved in her community, she flourished as a Catholic parish consultant in Orange County, California, between 1990 and 1995. She is a former member of the elementary/junior high religious education advisory board for the Diocese of Orange, California, and participated on the board of directors for the Friends of Library.

Among other affiliations, Dr. McCracken found success in political office for many years, serving as the chairman and a member of the budget advisory commission for the city of Anaheim. She notably thrived for eight years as a committee member and chairman of her local sanitation district, where she was responsible for developing a sewer water recycling program that is now known throughout the world. To honor her contributions, Dr. McCracken's name was etched on one of the government buildings.

Dr. McCracken has authored, edited and been involved in the publication of several books and handbooks, including "Take Off to a New You." She published a poem in 1977 called "The Creative Women," which received an award later that same year. Dr. McCracken has held the role of a handbook committee staff member of the facility of the Orange Catechetical Institute.

An alumnus of Nazareth College, Dr. McCracken received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics in 1959. She later earned a Master of Science in mathematics at Marquette University in 1968. She concluded her academic efforts with a Doctor of Philosophy in human behavior at La Jolla University in 1980. Likewise, Dr. McCracken is a certified mathematics teacher.

To stay current in her field, Dr. McCracken has been a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of University Women and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She is affiliated with the Ebell Club as a member, the past president and the past vice president. Moreover, Dr. McCracken has been associated as a member, the past president and a current member of the board of directors for the scholarship foundation of her area Kiwanis Club since 1997.

Recognized for her generosity, Dr. McCracken donated the $50,000 of her remaining campaign money to an entity that contributes to funding college tuition for students. She was further recognized as the Rookie of the Year by Kiwanis in 1997. Notably, Dr. McCracken is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been featured in Who's Who in Religion, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who of American Women.
