Equipped with a Bachelor of Science in physical education and health from Grand Canyon College where he graduated in 1979, and was named Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities as a member of Alpha Chi Honorary Society with a 3.89 GPA. A Master of Arts in Educational Psychology, with emphasis in Human Relations and Management along with School Counseling, was acquired in 1985.
Mr. Simmons began his career as an educator for the Pendergast School District in Phoenix, AZ serving as a physical education teacher. He later moved to Round Valley High School in Springerville, AZ as a counselor, baseball, football, and wrestling coach. He finished his 27 years at Avondale School District in Avondale, AZ as a counselor and administrator.
The decade of the 70's he was Vice President of Pat Burleson Karate Studios, Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas, utilizing his expertise as a master's level seventh degree black belt.
After working in education and martial arts instruction for over30 years, Mr. Simmons joined his wife, Deborah, in real estate. He decided to focus on realtor matters, as it was a more lucrative career path than his trajectory in education. Shortly thereafter, he and his wife established their own business, DJBI, Inc. in Peoria, AZ 1998. Mr. Simmons is associate broker in charge of sales of Advantage Arizona Real Estate and Property Management. He is President of the S-Corp while Deborah Simmons is Vice President and Designated Broker in charge of property management. For over 20 years the company has been a top independent brokerage in AZ, managing over 300 residential properties. The sales division had a best year in sales commissions of more than $600,000 selling 100 homes, and regularly has helped the company gross from half to over a million dollars on a consistent basis.
As a dedicated professional with a diversified background, Master Simmons was named Karate Fighter of the Year by the Southwest Region of American Karate Black Belt Association in 1973 for his grand champion tournament wins. In 1975 he scored a knock out to win an early form of mixed martial arts state of AZ title in a "Street Fight Karate" bout. He attributes his success in all his career endeavors on discipline along with Christian faith and business integrity.
Mr. Simmons has been civically action Alhambra Credit Union on the board of directors and with Desert Breeze Community Church as an elder and board member. He is professionally affiliated with the National Association of Realtors and Phoenix Association of Realtors.
Bill and Deborah Simmons plan to maintain their positions as officers of Advantage Arizona while preparing employees to move into positions of more responsibility in daily company affairs under broker guidance. Mr. Simmons points out that Deborah Simmons is at least equally responsible for this honor.
