With 65 years of Technologist & Engineering Experience to his credit, Mr. Sharma has served as a technical advisor, chief executive, Managing Director and the President of such organizations as British India Corporals India and Triveni Engineering Works Limited,. He was also elected as committee member of Indian Sugar Mills Association and Chairman Technical Committee for Indian Sugar Mills Association. Throughout his tenure, he has published over 80 research papers concerning sugar and its long-lasting effects on human physiology. Additionally, Mr. Sharma played an integral role in modernizing the methods of sugar distillery production with Bio Compost Production for high quality, extra neutral alcohol from sugarcane and molasses. Currently, he excels as the regional director of African operations for the Mehta Group.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Sharma has overseen the operations of Sugar and Allied Industries Limited, the research and growth of sugar in India and other international locations, the strategic management of sugar corporate affairs. Feasibility studies of sugar for Ethiopia and Sierra Leone, and the expansion of six separate sugar industries were prepared by him. Concerning his most notable positions, he contributed to the British India Corporation Limited as a chief chemist superintending technologist, chief executive, Managing Director and President between 1963 and 1987. Subsequently, Mr. Sharma also found success as the resident director for the Sugar Corporation of Uganda Limited from 1990 to 1994. Along with his administrative responsibilities at the Mehta Group, he simultaneously sits on the Board and also and the chairperson of its technical committee of the Agro-Chemical and Food Company Limited. Since 1994 till to date he is continuing to work as Regional Director (African Operations)-Mehta Group.
Regarding his other professional exploits, Mr. Sharma retains his affiliation as a Patron member of the Sugar Technologist Association of India Likewise, he is an organizer of charitable trusts in India, a donator to educational programs for orphans and disadvantaged children in Uganda and India, and a benefactor of the Lugazi Municipal Council Central Division. Additionally, Mr. Sharma has secured charters and conducted fellowships through the Royal Society of Chemistry in London; Fellow from Sugar Technologists Association of India and Fellow of Institute of Engineers of India.
Mr. Sharma obtained a Bachelor of Science from Agra University in 1954 and completed an associateship in sugar technology at the National Sugar Institute in 1957 standing first class achieving two Gold Medals. He also maintains his memberships with the South Indian Sugarcane and Sugar Technologists Association, Sugar Industry Technologists Inc., Board of Director-Uganda Manufacturers Association, the Uganda Sugar Manufacturers Association and the New York Academy of Sciences, to name a few. As a testament to his accomplishments, the Sugar Technologists Association of India bestowed him with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008 and also Fellow which very few got. Moreover, Mr. Sharma received the Lady Tata Scholarship in Sugar Technology and an award from the Indian Sugar Mills Association, among other accolades for his achievements & contributions.
