Dr. Gene Ewing Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Medicine

Dr. Ewing gained valuable expertise in pathology with St Paul Medical Center and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.



    DALLAS, TX, December 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Gene Ewing has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Throughout his career, he gained valuable expertise as a staff pathologist and faculty member with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, as well as a partner with ProPath Pathology Services (St Paul Medical Center), Dallas, TX. After accruing more than 34 years of medical experience, Dr Ewing retired from UT Southwestern in 2016. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Ewing is proud of his part-time role as interim Medical Director of Wadley Blood Center, during a time of transition.

Dr. Ewing pursued his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1973. Dr. Ewing later graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Doctor of Medicine in 1977. He subsequently completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, followed by a fellowship in Surgical Pathology, at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, 1977-1982.

Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Ewing has contributed to multiple publications over the years, including "False-Positive Sentinel Lymph Nodes in Breast Cancer Patients Caused by Benign Glandular Inclusions: Report of Three Cases and Review of the Literature," which was featured in the American Journal of Clinical Pathology, and "Intraoperative Cytologic Diagnosis of Breast Sentinel Lymph Nodes in the Routine, Nonacademic Setting: A Highly Specific Test with Limited Sensitivity," which was published in the Breast Journal. In order to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field of medicine, he has been affiliated with the American Association of Blood Banks. In the coming years, Dr. Ewing intends to enjoy his retirement and travel more in his spare time.
