Mr. Malecki is renowned as a retired aerospace engineer with more than 40 years of dedication to his industry. As a child, he loved building model aircraft, and was fascinated by space flight. When he began searching for colleges in which to enroll, he only considered programs that covered both aircraft and space vehicle engineering. Mr. Malecki pursued an education at the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering in 1974.

From 1974 to 1976, Mr. Malecki began his career on the Space Shuttle SRB, as an aerospace engineer for Teledyne Brown in Huntsville, AL. He subsequently excelled with the Lockheed Corporation as an aerospace engineer from 1976 until his retirement in 2016. During his time with Lockheed, Mr. Malecki provided his time, resources and expertise to the C-5, C-130, P-3and S-3, as well as some 15 other aircrafts, and was responsible for stress analysis, fracture mechanics and structural maintenance.

In 2009, Mr. Malecki was presented with a Lockheed Martin Aero Star Award for his efforts as a part of the S-3 aircraft team. Working on aircraft at sites throughout the United States, he fondly recalls the travel as one of the best parts of the job. He considers it a privilege to have worked on so many high-profile projects, and is incredibly proud of his contributions on the Space Shuttle, which remains a highlight of his career. Moreover, Mr. Malecki was an active member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, where he had held leadership roles in the Atlanta chapter.
