He began his active duty basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1980 and began processing at Fort Bragg, NC. After processing, he was assigned to an Infantry Unit on Kelly Hill, Fort Benning, Georgia. He was then assigned to Camp Howze, Korea, before returning stateside to Fort Riley, Kansas. Mr. Diggs was then assigned to Germany, Hanau/Gelnhausen. He then left Germany and came stateside again where he was then assigned to Fort Stewart, Georgia, where he ended his active military service in October 1990. He then entered the U.S. Army Reserve for approximately eight years. He then returned to active duty with the U.S. Army and was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas in an Infantry Unit as an Infantryman. In 2003 he injured his back in field training exercise. He decided to reclassify and change his job description. He attended school for Traffic Management at Fort Lee, Virginia. He then returned to Korea as a Traffic Management Supervisor for the years 2003 to 2004. Mr. Diggs was then assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, in an Aviation Unit and deployed to Iraq. One year later returned stateside for a one-year break. He then returned to Iraq for the second time, serving in the 4th Infantry Division (2008-2009). A year later he retired from the military unit 4th Coscom Command on December 31, 2010. He has seven years of foreign service. His highest pay grade is SFC/E7. His military career includes (MOS) Military Occupational Specialty. 11B30 Infantry, 88K30 Watercraft Operator, Drill Sergeant, and 88N40 Traffic Management. He completed two years of college coursework before graduating from the Merchant Marine Academy. As his career progressed, Mr. Diggs also became certified as a Class B watercraft operator.
His decorations, medals, citations, and campaign ribbon awards consist of: Iraqi Campaign Medal with four campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal 4th Award, Army Achievement Medal 3rd Award, Army Good Conduct Medal 7th Award, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal 2nd Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon 2nd Award, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 5th Award.
His military education includes: Action Officer Development Course, Auto Airload Planner, Basic Fire Fighting, BNCOC 2, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Trans Course, Defense Reutilization Market, Equal Oppertunity Leaders, Hazmat Certification, Manager Development Course. Master Drivers Trainer, Primary Leader Development Course, Supervisor Development Course, Transportation Management Coordinator Course, TWI Trans Management Course, Unit Movement Officer Course. He is a Veteran of Foreign War. He was inducted into the American Legion.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Diggs intends to establish a publishing company.
