Dr. Robert Kennedy Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    ATLANTA, GA, January 13, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Robert Kennedy with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Robert Kennedy celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A former senior government official, Dr. Kennedy is now president and chief executive officer of the Atlanta Council on International Relations. Dr Kennedy began his career as an enlisted man in the U.S. Army, received a Bachelor of Science degree at the Air Force Academy, and subsequently, served as a command pilot on active duty with the U.S. Air Force and later with the reserve forces. Among the positions he has held in over 34 years of U.S government service are: Foreign Affairs Officer, U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency; Chair, Advanced Analysis Group, U.S. Army's Stategic Studies Institute; Dwight D. Eisenhower Professor of National Security Studies, U. S. Army War College; and Deputy Commandant, NATO Defense College, Rome, Italy.

Dr. Kennedy left government service to accept an invitation to help create the first School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta Georgia, where he served as Professor of International Affairs. He was called back to government service in 1997 to direct the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. He returned to Georgia Tech in 2003 to complete over 20 years of university service, retiring from the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs in 2015. He was elected professor emeritus and continues a close relationship with the School.

Dr. Kennedy received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Georgetown University, as well as a Fulbright Scholarship to Peru. He was the first non-resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States. He also served on the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Executive Committee for the accrediting of joint military education, as General Editor of the Atlanta Papers, and as consultant in the fields of international security and defense affairs.

He has lectured and published widely. His authored and edited works have been published on three continents. They include: "The Nature and Demands of Smart Power," The Road to War: Congress' Historic Abdication of Responsibility, "The Elements of Strategic Thinking," Of Knowledge and Power: The Complexities of National Intelligence, The Defense of the l{test: Strategic and European Security Issues Reappraised, and U.S. Policy Toward the Soviet Union: a Long-Term Western Perspective.

His list of awards is long and varied, including: Outstanding Young Men of Americ4 U.S. Jaycees; Superior Civilian Service Award, U.S. Department of Defense; the Joint Distinguished Civilian Service Award, Chairman, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Certificate of Appreciation from the Mongolian Minister of Defense; and a Doctorate Honoris Cause from the Bulgarian National Defense College. He received, as well, the City's "Medallion" for contributions to the community, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

For his work with Russia following the end of the Cold War, he was elected a permanent member of the Academy of Security, Defense and Law Enforcement, Russian Federation with the title of Professor. For his efforts to assist Romania in the post-Ceaușescu period, the President of Romania awarded him the title of Commander. More recently, he was one of 50 Americans selected by the Government of India to attend the Third India-US Forum. Over the years he has been selected for inclusion in such publications as Who' Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in American Education. Looking toward the future, Dr. Kennedy intends to continue his work in the community, civic and international arena through the Atlanta Council on International Relations.
