Ms. Martin is a certified medical physicist and the president and chief executive officer of Therapy Physics Inc. in Gardena, California. Established in 1985, the organization is world-renowned as a medical physics firm that provides a full range of diagnostic and therapy consulting services to clients. Joining the organization in 1992 and becoming president just three years later, she is an expert in equipment evaluation, shielding design and radiation safety. Prior to her work at Therapy Physics Inc., she was a radiological physicist at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange in California between 1983 and 1992. Ms. Martin has been active in the field since 1975.

In addition to her primary responsibilities, Ms. Martin has worked an adjunct instructor in the School of Radiological Technology at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center since 2006. Previously, she taught in the health sciences program at California State University Long Beach from 1994 to 2013.

Throughout her career, Ms. Martin has conducted more than 100 presentations at national and international meetings. She has also written extensively in her field, contributing articles to such professional journals as the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics, as well as chapters to books. Furthermore, Ms. Martin was the co-author of several syllabuses for the California Department of Radiological Health and the co-editor of the American College of Medical Physics proceedings "Current Regulatory Affairs in Medical Physics," among other works.

Notably, Ms. Martin has served as a United States representative with the International Atomic Energy Association's international working group. The group is currently developing rules for radiation shielding for high energy linear accelerators. She is also a longstanding member of a number of other professional organizations as well, including the California Radiological Society and the American Society for Radiation Oncology. Active on multiple committees with her organizations, she was president of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine in 2017 and chair of the board in 2018. Ms. Martin also served as the chair of the American College of Medical Physics in 2011 and as the vice chair in 2010.

For excellence in her career, Ms. Martin has been elected as a fellow of the American College of Medical Physics, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and the American College of Radiology. Additionally, she was named a Villforth Lecturer at the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors in 2008. Ms. Martin also received a Marvin Williams Award for professional achievement from the American College of Medical Physics in 2009 and an Edith Quimby Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine in 2015.

Receiving a Bachelor of Science in engineering technology at Oklahoma State University in 1971, Ms. Martin obtained a Master of Science in medical physics from the University of California Los Angeles in 1975. She has been certified in radiological physics through the American Board of Radiology since 1979 and in radiation oncology physics by the American Board of Medical Physics since 1990.
