Dr. Paul William Gulgowski-Doliwa Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    DELAFIELD, WI, January 21, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Paul William Gulgowski with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa joined the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater faculty in 1993 initially as lecturer of German and foreign language study methodology and later elevated in rank to associate professor. A former German language professor for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, he also served in the military, through which he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1970. Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa subsequently advanced through the grades to a major, general staff officer and other distinguished assignments, before serving his final two years as a personal representative of NATO Land Forces Commander in Heidelberg, Germany, until 1987. He commenced his military service as an enlisted soldier and Non-Commissioned Officer in Infantry, Signal Corps and Air Defense Guided Missile units nationwide, 1964-1967.

Throughout the length of his career, Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa has authored several books and articles, including "U.S. Military Government in Germany" in 1983, "Flucht aus Ostpreussen" in 1986 and "Stress and Adjustment" in 2014. Invested in his community, he has excelled as the president of the Wisconsin Professional Education and Information Council since 2000, where he formerly found success as the vice president from 1997 to 1999. Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa has also served as the Commodore of the Northwestern U.S. Coast Guard, District 9, since 1994 and is a former chief historian for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa received a Bachelor of Science at the University of Texas in 1970. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Bremen in Germany in 1981, a Master of Arts at Marquette University in 1992 and a Doctor of Philosophy with a Major in Counseling Psychology with Honors at Pacific Western University in 1994. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa is certified to teach social sciences, history and German.

In recognition of his military experience, Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa was decorated, among many others, with a Meritorious Service Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, a Commander's Cross of the German Order of Merit, a U.S. Army Commendation Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters and the U.S. Coast Guard Commendation Medal. Additionally, he was commissioned by the Governor Matthew G. Bevin of the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Colonel, which is the highest honor granted by the Commonwealth and is equivalent to being made a Knight by the Sovereign of the United Kingdom.

Concurrently to his regular assigned duties, this field grade officer also served the American Military as foreign area specialist for the European Allied Theater. In this function, he made friends with many of his foreign counterparts, which, after his complete retirement from all American based employment opened for him acceptance into highly revered and respected Knighthoods. These are in order of prominence: The Eagle Order of Georgia, The Seamless Tunic of Our Lord Jesus Christ; The Imperial Hispanic Order of Charles V; The Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus, Jerusalem; The Military Order of Swabia in Honor of St. Gereon; The Eagle Order of Silesia in Honor of St. Hedwig and The Imperial Order of The Dragon of Annam (Vietnam).

Dr. Gulgowski-Doliwa emmigrated to the United States of America from Germany on 2 April 1962 and was naturalized at the Federal District Court of El Paso, Texas, on 28 March 1969. He descends from the Princely/Ducal House of Lower Silesia, The Holy Roman Empire.

On 6 July 1989, he married the former Miss Heide Anna Maria Hegenscheidt-Notthoff. She is a graduate of the prestigious School Sisters of Notre Dame College System, a newspaper editor and international business administrator by profession. This listee has a daughter (DOB: 22 September 1964) and a son (DOB: 21 January 1977) from a previous marriage. Daughter Audrey Annette attended the finest schools in Costa Rica, Germany and the U.S.A. She is completely fluent in the English, German and Spanish languages. She works currently as owner and operator of a kindergarten and childcare facility in Omaha, Nebraska. Son Paul II is a Distinguished Engineering Graduate of Oklahoma University at Norman and presently employed by British Petroleum as a Subsea Engineering Manager, with important inventions to his credit. He resides in Katy, Texas.
