Dr. Patel is a double board-certified pediatric neurologist and neurophysiologist celebrating more than 15 years of clinical and research excellence. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University and earned her Doctor of Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, with residencies in pediatrics and neurology at Rush University and the Children's Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University. Early in her medical training, Dr. Patel was drawn to neuroscience for its ability to drastically improve patient quality of life, building upon an existing calling to pediatric practice.
Since 2018, Dr. Patel has been an attending pediatric neurologist at the Magnificent Minds Neurology Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Prior to accepting her current position, Dr. Patel spent three years in private practice as a partner of West Coast Neurology, and was an attending pediatric neurologist at the Presbyterian Hospital of Albuquerque and the Children's Hospital of Orange County. Dr. Patel has been selected for prestigious research fellowships in neurosurgery and neurophysiology at world-class institutions, including Stanford University, Duke University and University College London, and has been invited to present abstracts before the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Cancer, and area hospitals and school boards.
Dr. Patel has lectured and supervised residents at The Ohio State University and Central DuPage Hospital, an affiliate of Northwestern University. She was named one of the Top Doctors in Pasadena, California, in 2017, and has been recognized for her clinical excellence throughout her career. She continues to see patients in clinic on a daily basis, and attributes much of her success to her ability to build rapport with patients and families and create empathetic and flexible treatment plans. Dr. Patel is professionally affiliated with the American Epilepsy Society and the Child Neurology Society, and hopes to pursue administrative leadership roles in boards and organizations to implement greater change in her specialty in the coming years.
