An experienced and tenured physician, Dr. Lin has worked as a medical consultant out of his Middle Tennessee home office since 2014. Boasting more than five decades of expertise in his field, he retired from his full-time commitments after more than 15 years as a staff physician at the Clover Bottom Development Center in Nashville, Tennessee. A talented pediatrician and clinical geneticist who specialized in the care for patients with developmental disabilities, Dr. Lin was also employed in a similar role at the Metro General Hospital in Nashville from 1993 until 1996. Additionally, he gained expertise as a medical staff member at the nearby Hubbard Hospital between 1988 and 1996 and William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, from 1985 to 1986.

As an extension of his professional career, Dr. Lin was an assistant and associate professor in the college of medicine at the University of Tennessee from 1978 to 1985. He subsequently spent another near 10 years as an associate professor of pediatrics and as the co-director of the department of genetics at Meharry Medical College in Nashville between 1988 and 1996. Dr. Lin also provided his expertise as a consultant on behalf of the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research in San Antonio from 1983 until 1985. He notably served in the U.S. Army Reserve between 1985 and 1991 where he was promoted from the rank of a captain to a major, having earlier excelled as a surgical officer at the Tainan Air Force Hospital in Taiwan from 1966 to 1967.

As a seasoned genetic researcher, Dr. Lin conducted extensive studies on the structure and function of human red cell carbonic anhydrases, the structure and function of mutant hemoglobin, as well as biochemical genetics of human hemoglobin disease. As a result, he has contributed numerous scientific publications in his field, including the well received article, 'Structure of Hemoglobin Vanderbilt,' in 1978. Supporting his local community, Dr. Lin has also served on the board of directors of Knoxville Alcoholic Services and the Nashville Taiwanese Association. He was also a board trustee of the Nashville Chinese Baptist Church.

Dr. Lin prepared for his career in medicine by receiving a Doctor of Medicine at National Taiwan University in 1966. Shortly after arriving in the U.S., he also attained a Doctor of Philosophy in physiological chemistry at the University of Wisconsin in 1971. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include an internship at National Taiwan University Hospital in Taipei and a residency in pediatrics at William Beaumont Hospital. Eminently qualified in his field, Dr. Lin is board certified in medical genetics, clinical genetics and biochemical genetics.

Dr. Lin is an elected fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics. He has also been active as a member of several other prominent professional organizations in support of his career, including the American Medical Association, the American Board of Medical Genetics and the American Society of Molecular Biological Chemistry.

Supporting his research, Dr. Lin was successful in securing grants from the National Institutes of Health, Meharry Medical College, and the Tennessee Heart Association. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been cited in the first edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and the 24th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
