Moses Nkwachukwu Adiele, MD, Colonel U.S.Army (RET) Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Now retired from an incredible career as both a physician and colonel in the military, Dr. Adiele has continued to serve as an independent medical consultant and provider for the U.S. Army since. Devoting over 40 years to the field of medicine, including more than two decades of military service, he notably held the roles of the district health director, a public health officer and a clinician for the Virginia State Health Department in Richmond, Virginia, as well as the chief medical officer for both the Virginia State Department of Medical Assistant Services in Richmond and the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command in the State of Virginia. Dr. Adiele also served as a commander for the 4215th U.S. Army Hospital in Richmond and the 348th General Hospital in Pedricktown, New Jersey.

As an extension of his career as a primary care physician, Dr. Adiele was a medical consultant for the High Blood Pressure Center in the Richmond area in Virginia. Likewise, he co-founded the African Physicians in North America in Washington, D.C. in 1981, for which he served as the president through 1984. Dr. Adiele conducted extensive research in medicine and has contributed several research papers on glioblastoma and brain cancer, as well as sickle cell traits and sports.

Devoting a substantial amount of time to civic activities, Dr. Adiele served as a policy consultant for the International United Black Fund Inc. in Washington, D. C. in the 1980's. Moreover, he is the founder and chief executive officer of INES Community Foundations Inc. (a humanitarian organization) for Sub-Sahara Africa in 2019, and served as a consultant and role model for the Youth Education and Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority, in Richmond, Virginia in the 1980's. Dr. Adiele also served on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Born in Nigeria, Dr. Adiele came of age amid tragedy, with his brother having died by the time he turned five. Inspired to become a doctor, he would often be found helping with those throughout his village healing their wounds as a teenager. Dr. Adiele later came to the United States of America where he received a Bachelor of Science in health systems at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia in 1976. Shortly thereafter, he completed a Doctor of Medicine at Howard University in 1980, followed by a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University in 1981, and a Master of Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College in 2001. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include serving as a house officer and completing an internship and residency in family medicine at Howard University Hospital between 1981 and 1984. Dr. Adiele is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and a licensed physician.

Throughout the course of his medical career, Dr. Adiele has distinguished himself as an elected fellow and lifetime member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Preventive Medicine. Among other professional organizations, he is a fellow of the American College of Medical Quality and a past president of the Association of African Physicians in North America. With respect to his military career, Dr. Adiele is a lifetime member of the Senior Reserve Commander's Association, Military Officers Association of America, the Reserve Officers Association of the United States, and the American Legion.

For his military accomplishments, Dr. Adiele received several Meritorious Military Service Medals and U.S. Army Commendation Medals, as well as Meritorious Civilian Service Medal. He was also recognized with a Certification of Appreciation as a Medical Adviser from the U.S. Army War College Strategic Crisis Exercise in 2006 and a Certificate of Military Retirement for Faithful and Honorable Service, for over 23 years, from the Armed Forces of the United States of America in June 2011. For his success in medicine, he was lauded as an American Top Family Doctor by the Consumers' Research Council of America. For his success in Humanitarian work, Dr. Adiele received a Certificate of Recognition for Selfless Service to God and Humanity from his native village community in Nigeria in 2017. In addition, he was recognized as a distinguished community leader with the award of a chieftaincy title from his native traditional ruler, in Nigeria in August 2019. Furthermore, Dr. Adiele is a previous recipient of the following Who's Who awards: Who's Who among Black Americans in 1988, Who's Who in the South and Southeast in 1992, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America in 1993, and Who's Who in the World in 1994.
