Barbara Ann Ritchwood Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Nursing

Ms. Ritchwood has worked as a nurse during the events of September 11th and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic with NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center

KUNKLETOWN, PA, February 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barbara Ann Ritchwood has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

As a young woman, Ms. Ritchwood remembers her grandmother struggling with epilepsy. During her frequent trips in and out of the hospital, she found herself questioning her grandmother's care, which led her to pursuing a career in health care later in life. After becoming a registered nurse through the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in 1989, she gained valuable expertise with Pocono Medical Center between 1989 and 1991. Dedicated to building upon her expertise, she returned to college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Arts in health administration from New Jersey City University in 1995 and 1997, respectively. Additionally, she holds certifications in pediatric advanced life support, advanced certified life support, advanced burn life support and wound care.

In 1991, Ms. Ritchwood joined NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Over the years, she grew from strength to strength, working as an assistant nurse, charge nurse and instructor before obtaining her current role as a staff nurse. A dedicated nurse and single mother, she has achieved much throughout her career, serving as a nurse during the events of the September 11th attacks. As the building burned, she received a patient and was able to call his wife to ensure her that her husband was alive and well. Though a devastating experience, she continued to serve in the area for the following 30 days. In recent years, she has also dedicated herself to her patients during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Ritchwood aligns herself with the Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Alongside her work as a nurse, she volunteers at teaching fairs at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. In light of her professional excellence, she was honored as a Charge Nurse of the Year. In the coming years, Ms. Ritchwood intends to earn two more certifications and experience continued success in her career.
