An accomplished listee, Mr. Couch celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Having earned a laudable reputation as a prominent health care executive for nearly four decades, Mr. Couch retired as the chief financial officer of Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2007, after three years in his role. Devoted to improving health in the communities in which they serve, the organization was recently renamed as the Health Forward Foundation in 2018. Devoted to the industry for nearly five decades, some of Mr. Coach's most notable positions have included service as the deputy executive director of the Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, where he spent nearly two decades, and as the president of Huntington Memorial Hospital in Huntington, Indiana, from 1978 to 1980.

Added to his tenure, Mr. Couch was contributory to the National Public Health and Hospital Institute in Washington for many years. A member of the board of directors from 1987 to 1990, he also served as the chairperson in 1989. Involved in a plethora of charitable and civic causes over the past 30 years as well, most of which have been in health care, Mr. Couch has served on the board of directors for the Kansas City Care Center since 1990, a health and wellness facility that serves low income and uninsured patients. He is also a past president of the Greater Kansas City Mental Health Foundation, and has served on numerous boards of directors, including for the Greater Kansas City Healthcare Foundation, the Visiting Nurse Home Care Services in Kansas City and the Resource Development Institute in Kansas City.

Mr. Couch studied at Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Science in business in 1958. After graduating, he entered the military as a medical corpsman and later as a Medical Service Corp officer in the U.S. Army Reserve between 1958 and 1967. Following his service in active duty, he was recruited as a Controller at Anderson Community Hospital. Mr. Couch ultimately received a Master of Business Administration at Butler University in 1977.

Championing his many years in the industry, Mr. Couch is an elected life fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, where he also served on the nominating committee from 1995 to 1999. He is a member, past treasurer and former board director of the Kansas City Care Center, and served on the boards of Family Health Partners, the Kansas City Area Hospital Association and the National Association of Public Hospitals. Additionally, Mr. Couch served in various roles for the American Hospital Association (AHA), including as the chairperson of the Governing Council Section, Metropolitan Hospitals during 1993, where he was instrumental in convincing the congressional committee to increase funding the Medicaid program. Apart from his medical related affiliations, Mr. Couch is a professional member of Masons and Rotary.

In accounting for his standout success, Mr. Couch credits the influence and support of his wife. He could never have accomplished all that he did in life if it had not been for her.
