Suzan E. Fenner Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Fenner with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Fenner celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. After earning a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University, Ms. Fenner obtained a teaching certificate but decided that she did not want to pursue a career in teaching. Enrolling in law school soon thereafter, she eventually graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University. Moreover, she is admitted to practice by the State Bar of Texas and the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of Texas. Ms. Fenner began her career as an associate at Smith & Baker and a law clerk to a presiding judge with the U.S. District Court. Ms. Fenner then worked as an associate at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP before advancing to partner in the firm, chairing the Employee Benefits Practice Group. She was proud to be one of the first women lawyers at a large firm in Dallas and was considered a trailblazer in the field of employee benefits law. In addition to her primary duties at the aforementioned firm, she served in a number of management positions with the firm.

Throughout her 35-year practice with the firm, she also served in board and volunteer positions with several nonprofit organizations, including the Texas Lawyer's Insurance Exchange, where she continues to serve as Chair of the Board. Previously she served as chair of the board of the Lone Star Council of Camp Fire Boys and Girls, the Dallas Business League, and Southwest Benefits Association. In 2008, Ms. Fenner retired from the practice of law, but continued to serve on nonprofit boards including the Board of Trustees of the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest, Dallas Challenge, High Adventure Treks for Dads and Daughters, and the Texas Tech Law School Foundation.

For her exceptional efforts over the years, Ms. Fenner has received many accolades from industry and community organizations. She was notably presented with the Outstanding Service Award from Texas Tech Law School Foundation, the Ebby Award for Volunteerism with Women and Girls, and the Outstanding Volunteer Award from Camp Fire USA.
