OSTEEN, FL, February 18, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lucyann Jurss has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

In 1965, Ms. Jurss 12 year old son, Doug, caught a swarm of honey bees and brought them home in a cardboard box, unsure of what to do with them. A neighbor who had a few beehives gave him a hive box in which to put them. At the time, Ms. Jurss possessed little knowledge of beekeeping. However, she and Doug learned together how to care for the bees and by the time he graduated from high school they were tending 60 hives near their home.

When Doug graduated he joined the U.S. Air Force and Ms. Jurss continued tending to the bees with her other children. Through this unique work, she was able to keep her family busy by teaching them how to care for the bees and their hives. Over the years she became fascinated with the way bees live and work, attributing their organizational behavior and life structure to the way of the Lord. She eventually owned and operated 1200 hives for producing honey and for pollinating plants. She also offers extraction services to other beekeepers.

Ms. Jurss has attributed her success in the field to her perseverance, faith and love of nature. As a dedicated professional she has been most pleased to build a rapport with other beekeepers and become respected in the field. At the age of 87 years she is still an active beekeeper with the help of her youngest son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Pam, who will keep the business going.
