Evelyn Simon, Esq., Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Simon has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of law

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI, February 18, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Evelyn Simon, Esq., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Simon celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Active in her private practice for more than 20 years, Ms. Simon established her successful law firm in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 1999, after retiring from United Technologies Corporation. Noted as an expert in negotiation and international business, she has provided advice in business development and legal matters for a number of large corporations operating in the global arena. Proud to serve her community, Ms. Simon has volunteered her time and expertise as an instructor for Junior Achievement and contributed to the Board of Directors for the Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield for a number of years.

Initially obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in physics at Barnard College/Columbia University and a Master of Science in physics at the University of Pittsburgh, Ms. Simon encountered difficulty in finding a job in the sciences in the Detroit area as it was a male--dominated field. Eventually, she accepted an offer at Chrysler Corporation as an engineer in 1964, rising while there to a leadership position as head of the exterior lighting laboratory responsible for the development of automotive lighting for Chrysler Corporation vehicles. One of the very few females in the engineering workforce at the time, she served on various committees of the Society of Automotive Engineers to further automotive lighting research and development.

Leaving Chrysler after the birth of her first child, she became the Education and Professional Conference Manager at the Engineering Society of Detroit while simultaneously working toward her law degrees. Ms. Simon subsequently obtained a law degree at Wayne State University in 1978 and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan, before an unexpected move to Australia after her husband's transfer there. In order to work in the legal profession in Australia, she needed to obtain an Australian law degree and serve an apprenticeship (known as "'Articles"), so she returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Admitted to practice by the State of Victoria (Australia) Bar, after a hearing by the Supreme Court of Victoria at which she was permitted to obtain admission to the Bar without taking the required oath of allegiance to the Queen of England, she became a barrister and solicitor for Arthur Robinson & Company, a prominent Australian law firm, in 1980. One of the few foreigners at the time working for the law firm, she worked on numerous matters for several of the firm's high profile corporate clients. After a move back to Detroit, she joined Ford Motor Company as a Senior Attorney specializing in securities law and in mergers and acquisitions. She negotiated and formed the first joint venture at Ford, serving as a model for future corporate partnerships. She later joined United Technologies Corporation's Automotive Group and served in a number of positions, including as the Vice President of Strategic Planning, the General Counsel, the Vice President of Business Development and legal Affairs and the Vice President of Asian Business Development. She established numerous global operations for the Automotive Group while there, in South America, Europe, Japan, India and including four automotive supply joint ventures in China for which she was appointed Chairman and given responsibility for those operations. Recognized as the International Woman of the Year by the Women in International Business Group in 1997, Ms. Simon has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in American law, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who of American Women.
