For more than 30 years, Dr. Lopez has been active as a family medicine and primary care practitioner treating patients in Mexico and the United States. The youngest child of a large family, he describes his childhood as "humble," and was driven by a desire to find professional success in a career that would enable him to contribute to the community. He initially became licensed in Mexico, graduating from Nuevoleon Medical University in 1990, and practiced in Monterey for two years before relocating to the United States. In 1996, Dr. Lopez completed the medical program at the University of Illinois, and became board-certified in gynecology and family practice. He is also a hospitalist, admitting patients to the hospital.
Since 2001, Dr. Lopez has helped patients at the Lopez Family Practice in San Antonio, following several years of primary care practice in Illinois. He is proud to be able to provide high-quality medical care and treatment for patients in an underprivileged area, and to work with pre-service nurse practitioners to help offer a broad range of education and training experiences. Dr. Lopez attributes his success to his persistence, goal-driven attitude and positive attitude.
Dr. Lopez has been recognized among the Best Physicians in San Antonio Magazine, the Consumers Research Council of America's Top Family Doctors and the Best Physicians in San Antonio Chosen by their Peers. He was additionally presented with an award for Outstanding Medical Community Leadership by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. Recruited to the Bexar County Medical Society, he is a member of the American Medical Academy, the Texas Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
