Arnold Winston, MD, Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Medicine

Dr. Winston specializes in psychiatry with Albert Einstein College of Medicine and ICAHN School of Medicine



    NEW YORK, NY, March 09, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Arnold Winston, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Driven to serve others, Dr. Winston earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago in 1956 and a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Medical Center in 1960. Upon graduating, he completed an internship in internal medicine at Downstate Medical Center-Kings County Hospital before switching to psychiatry, where he discovered his true passion. After completing his residency in psychiatry, Dr. Winston found success in the chief psychiatry treatment unit at Downstate Medical Center before joining South Beach Psychiatry Center as the chief of service and, subsequently, the director.

During the 1970s, Dr. Winston began parlaying his considerable expertise to students at the State University of New York in Brooklyn and Mount Sinai College of Medicine. During this time, he took on roles of increasing responsibility with Beth Israel Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. At Beth Israel, Dr. Winston organized the premier department of psychiatry, which is now ranked among the top 12 programs in the United States.

Supported by his extensive knowledge of clinical psychiatry, particularly psychotherapy and psychopharmacology, Dr. Winston serves as a psychiatry professor with Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a part-time professor with the Saint Georges Medical School in the West Indies. Since 2015, he has also maintained involvement as the chairperson and a professor emeritus at the Icahn School of Medicine. Dedicated to his community, Dr. Winston has volunteered to treat patients in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout his career, Dr. Winston has retained professional alignment with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American College of Psychiatrists, where is an emeritus fellow, and the American Psychiatric Association, through which he is a distinguished life fellow. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, he has authored a number of publications, including "Learning Supportive Psychotherapy: An Illustrated Guide" and several articles in professional journals. In light of his outstanding body of work, Dr. Winston has been acknowledged on numerous occasions, earning a psychotherapy research grant through the National Institutes of Health from 1993 until 1995. In the near future, Dr. Winston intends to pursue writing and experience the continued growth and success of his career.
