Michael Dana Sloan Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

An accomplished listee, Mr. Sloan celebrates over 40 years of experience in his professional network. Mr. Sloan has worked in Information Technology (IT), managerial and consultation roles for multiple organizations throughout his career. Most recently, in 2017, he was recruited for the position of a Program Manager and Business Partner for the City of Hope National Medical Center, a world-renowned nonprofit cancer treatment and research center, hospital and graduate medical school located in Duarte, California. In his role, Mr. Sloan oversees an enterprise document and content management (EDM/ECM) program which manages millions of the corporation's clinical, financial, and administrative documents.

Among his accomplishments at the City of Hope National Medical Center, Mr. Sloan led the implementation of a large, multimillion-dollar premier EDM system called OnBase and successfully integrated it with the corporation's EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) system. The EDM system presently supports multiple departments including Health Information Management Services, Patient Financial Services, Human Resources, Research, Compliance, and the entire clinical community based at the main hospital center as well as nearly 40 ambulatory clinics located throughout Southern California. Mr. Sloan continues to manage the IT EDM practice and its associated solutions.

Prior to his engagement at the City of Hope, Mr. Sloan was an Information Technology Project Liaison at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Responsible for managing the IT project portfolio and project governance across the key business portfolios, Mr. Sloan also successfully managed numerous IT system implementations. Among his accomplishments, Mr. Sloan led the development and implementation of an electronic consent form system for the clinical and ambulatory communities which is accessible via the EMR and the web. Other achievements include upgraded their Pharmacy medication management system, upgraded the Epilepsy monitoring program for the Department of Neurology, implemented infrastructure improvements for the Emergency Department, implemented Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) in the Health Information Management Service Department, and assisted in the development of the IT Program Management Office (PMO). Mr. Sloan also worked for Kaiser Permanente as a Program Manager in their corporate Enterprise Architecture Department where he had the opportunity to work directly with the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Moreover, he was responsible for building a portfolio management system and metrics for the Enterprise Architecture Department which reported on the organization's performance. He also led Kaiser Permanente's Southern California region's HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10 initiatives.

Though Mr. Sloan has been working within the health care sector for the past decade, his wealth of expertise has also included immeasurable success in several other fields. At the age of 28, he worked as a Program Manager in the Aerospace and Defense industry, where he was responsible for managing the development and implementation of a multi-million dollar property management program to manage United States government-owned and TRW Space and Defense owned property.

Among other noteworthy roles and accomplishments to his credit, Mr. Sloan supplied leadership and oversight of DirecTV's 24/7 tier 2 operations for incident, problem, and service management functions. This included spearheading process improvements and system changes governing project, issue, and change and release management resulting in delivery time being lowered by 25%. He also led the standardization of software configuration, requirements engineering, and program management processes across Warner Brothers Entertainment's decentralized global IT and business organization, led the development of a $30+ million eCommerce storefront and portal application portfolio for Ingram Micro growing web sales by 15%, managed Merisel Inc.'s worldwide financial and sales systems, and held a prominent appointment with Nissan North America, where he led a project team which reengineered the company's entire remarketing business, built new interfaces, processes and systems, and reduced the leased vehicle inventory turnaround time from 100 days to 42 days in less than 15 months.

Mr. Sloan is a native of Southern California. He studied at California State University Northridge, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Management Information Systems in 1983. He subsequently attended Pepperdine University, where he completed a Master of Business Administration in 1987. Mr. Sloan holds a master certification in project management as well as ITIL V3 Foundation and Service Operations certifications.

As a testament to his commitment and longevity in the field, Mr. Sloan has been a prominent member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society. He is also a professional member of Delta Sigma Pi, an International Business Fraternity. Presented with awards from Kaiser Permanente and other institutions, Mr. Sloan has also been recognized with several awards from the International Biographical Centre (Cambridge, England) and the American Biographical Institute. Mr. Sloan also held an honorary appointment on the Board of Research Advisors with the American Biographical Institute.
