Splitt, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Splitt celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A former telecommunications company executive and educator, Dr. Splitt found success specializing in electrical engineering, specifically communication system security, until his retirement in 1993. Dedicating 15 years to Northern Telecom Inc. in Schaumburg, Illinois, he advanced from the director of engineering for the Cook division in 1976 to the vice president of engineering, the vice president of technology planning for the organization's central region and the vice president of educational and environmental initiatives for Northern T Prior to his tenure with the aforementioned organization, Dr. Splitt excelled for 20 years with the Cook Electric Company, holding such roles as a group leader, project engineer and the director of engineering.

In addition to work in his technical field, Dr. Splitt was noted as a McCormick faculty fellow in the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University between 1992 and 2005. He also served on the executive advisory council at the University of Illinois in the College of Engineering from 1987 to 1992. Apart from his scholarly involvement, he was active as a member of the industry advisory council for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and the board of directors of the International Engineering Consortium, for which he later served as the chair of the fellow committee and the committee on the future. Additionally, Dr. Split contributed his expertise as a member and the former chairman of the executive advisory council of the National Communications Forum in Chicago.

As a seasoned researcher in his field, Dr. Splitt holds several patents and has penned numerous technical papers. He also recently published the 2015 book, "An Odyssey of Reform Initiatives, 1986-2015," that was followed by its sequel, "Reflections, 2016-2019," in 2019. As a leader in his community for many years, Dr. Splitt has been active as a member of the Foundation for Global Community in Evanston, Illinois as well as the Global Education Association in New York City.

Born in Chicago, Dr. Splitt attended Chicago's Wilbur Wright Junior College before being awarded an Arthur J. Schmitt scholarship to the Fournier Institute of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1952. Shortly thereafter, he continued his studies at Northwestern University, earning a Master of Science in electrical engineering in 1957. Dr. Splitt concluded his academic efforts at Northwestern University with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1963.

An elected fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Dr. Splitt is a member of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi, from which he notably received an Eminent Engineer Award. He was also honored with the 2006 Robert Maynard Hutchins Award "for his courageous defense of academic integrity in college sports" and a SPIE Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society of Optics and Photonics in 2020. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Splitt has been featured in the 46th, 47th and 49th editions of Who's Who in America.
