Vincent R. Johnson Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Johnson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Johnson celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. After clerking for the Honorable Bernard S. Meyer in New York City and the Honorable Thomas E. Fairchild in Chicago, Mr. Johnson began a career in academia. Hired as an assistant professor at Saint Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio in 1982, he later served as associate dean for administration from 2001 to 2002, as associate dean for academic and student affairs between 2002 and 2005, and as interim dean from 2019 to 2020. Since 2017, Mr. Johnson has held an endowed professorship and is currently the South Texas distinguished professor of law at St. Mary's.

Mr. Johnson has been a Fulbright Scholar in China, 1998, Romania, 2005, and Burma 2017-18. He has taught as a visiting professor in the U.S. at Vermont Law School, the University of Notre Dame and George Washington University, as well as abroad at Saint Petersburg State University in Russia, Shandong University in China and the University of Belgrade in Serbia. He was the director of Saint Mary's Institute on World Legal Problems in Innsbruck, Austria, between 1989 and 2001, and has been a member of Congress of Fellows at the Center of International Studies in Salzburg, Austria, since 2005. Mr. Johnson also served as director of the Saint Mary's Institute on Chinese Law and Business from 2008 to 2018.

From 1988 to 1989, Mr. Johnson was a fellow at the U.S. Supreme Court. Throughout the course of his career, he has published widely. Among his written works, he is the author of "Legal Malpractice Law in a Nutshell" through West Academic Publishing, as well as "Advanced Tort Law: A Problem Approach" via LexisNexis. Mr. Johnson served the deputy editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Comparative Law through Oxford Press from 2012 to 2019 and has been a member of the law school casebook advisory board on behalf of the Carolina Academy Press since 1995.

Mr. Johnson chaired the Mayor of San Antonio's Task Force on Ethics in Government from 1997 to 1998 and later served as a member of the advisory board for the Chinese Review of Common Law from 2002 to 2005. By appointment of the Texas Supreme Court, he has been a member of the Committee on Disciplinary Rules and Referenda since 2018. Mr. Johnson is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Law Institute, the American Bar Foundation, the Texas Bar Foundation and the San Antonio Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the State Bar of Texas, for which he was active on the lawyer advertising committee from 1985 to 1988 and the rules of professional conduct committee between 1996 and 1999.

Mr. Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts at Saint Vincent College in 1975. a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Notre Dame in 1978, a Master of Laws at Yale University in 1979 and an honorary Doctor of Laws at Saint Vincent College in 1991. He received a second Master of Laws at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2016. Mr. Johnson has been admitted to practice law by Pennsylvania and Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
