Gloria Salinas Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Education

Ms. Salinas specializes in language and special education as a substitute teacher with the Lubbock Independent School District



    LUBBOCK, TX, March 23, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gloria Salinas has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Drawing upon a lifelong desire to teach, Ms. Salinas graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1982. Subsequently, she began a decades-long professional relationship with the McKenzie Middle School, with which she served as a teacher specializing in special education, Spanish, Latin and language training between 1982 and 2011. Following this decade-spanning appointment, Ms. Salinas currently excels as a substitute teacher for grades pre-K, kindergarten, and first through 12th grades for the Lubbock Independent School District in Texas.

Alongside her primary work in education, Ms. Salinas gained valuable professional expertise as a desk clerk and monitor for the local chapter of The Salvation Army. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she has been affiliated with the United American Mexican Students, the Association for Spanish and Portuguese Students and Sigma Delta Phi. Ms. Salinas has additionally authored several works throughout the course of her career, including several works of poetry that were published in "Famous Poets of the Heartland" and a study skills manual that she co-authored.

For her outstanding body of work, Ms. Salinas has been honored on several occasions, earning the Best Latin Teacher for the City of Lubbock in 2001, the Teacher of the Month Award in April 2004 and the Hispana of the Year Award in Education from the Hispanic Women's Association in 2008. She volunteer with the Baby Closet for Highland Baptist Church and is an independent senior associate for LegalShield. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is especially proud of educating a plethora of students. She was married to Reverend Guadalupe Salinas, Sr. from 1984 to 1992; they were Pastors at New Creation Baptist Church in Abernathy, Texas, a bilingual Southern Baptist Church. In the coming years, Ms. Salinas intends to establish a podcast, complete her Bible studies and become more familiar with modern technology.
