Mr. Veblen in a lifelong entrepreneur and the former chairpersons of Northshore Resources LLC. Long interested in business, he has enjoyed success in a number of areas and industries, beginning in commodities and moving through the realms of food and agriculture. He earned a Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic State University after completing coursework at the University of California Santa Barbara. Likewise, Mr. Veblen was bestowed with a Master of Science at Oregon State University in 1955.

From 1955 until 1975, Mr. Veblen served as the corporate vice president of Cargill Incorporated, which included a 1965 appointment as a special assistant to the Secretary of the Interior and presidential appointment to the White House Fellows Association during the same year. In 1975, he was named as the director of food and agriculture for SRI International, where he would remain until 1980, when he departed to establish Food Systems Associates Inc. Mr. Veblen remained active as the president of Food Systems Associates Inc. until 1994, and as a member of the company's board of directors until 1995. Since 1993, he has been a convener of the Superior Business Firm Roundtable, which he founded, and, since 2000, he has contributed his talents as the chairperson of Northshore Resources Inc.

Mr. Veblen's career has brought him into a range of leadership roles, including terms as the president of the Washington Chapter of the Management Consulting Institute, the chairperson of Wyatt Ventures LLC, Kirby Ventures LLC and Enterprise Consulting and Development Inc., and as the chairperson of the Freedom From Hunger Foundation. He has been an independent speaker and consultant in the field for more than three decades, and is the author of more than ten books, most notably "The Way of Business" in 2011," "Business: The Heart of the Matter" in 2016, "Imagining an Inland Empire: And Other Myths of Endeavor" in 2018 and "Imagining a World Governed by Common Sense," second edition in 2021. In his leisure time, Mr. Veblen enjoys travel, gardening and writing, and is a distinguished member of the Friends of Montpelier, the Cato Institute and the Cosmos Club.
