Rev. Dr. Marian Hopkins Tucker has been Inducted into the Marquis Who's Who Registry

Rev. Dr. Tucker is a pastor, community leader and longtime member of the governor's board.

FORT PIERCE, FL, March 31, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rev. Dr. Marian Hopkins Tucker has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Rev. Dr. Tucker celebrates more than 45 years of excellence as a pastor and two decades as a community advocate and member of the governor's board. Inspired by the anxiety and discomfort she felt about her older brother serving in Vietnam, she began volunteering for veterans, children and community initiatives as a way to soothe her fears. Her early volunteerism inspired her to pursue a medical education, and Rev. Dr. Tucker earned a nursing degree from Margaret Murray Washington Vocational School before completing a nursing internship through Howard University's Freeman Hospital. She would continue her education with a Bachelor of Science in Christian education from the University of Biblical Studies in Nebraska, and was subsequently bestowed with an honorary Doctor of Philosophy from Trinity Theological Seminary in 2011.

Rev. Dr. Tucker began her career as a licensed practical nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, and became an ordained licensed minister in 1989. During this time, she not only acted as a pastor, but taught at Trinity Theological Seminary in addition to her community-based work. In 1995, Rev. Dr. Tucker established Developing Communities Today for Tomorrow, a charitable outreach project that she continues to run and, since 2001, has been an active member of the governor's board of her town.

Rev. Dr. Tucker is active in several churches and faith-based hunger prevention projects, in addition to working with cancer outreach projects, as a foster parent and foster advocate, and as a member of the board of One Church One Child. As a parent to four, grandparent to eight and great-grandparent to one, she has also spent much of her career as a fierce advocate and mentor for children in need of academic, social and spiritual guidance. In recognition of her outstanding community service, Rev. Dr. Tucker was presented with a 1995 White House citation from President Bill Clinton.
