As an expert in the accounting industry, Mr. Travis is able to provide his knowledge and expertise with other organizations as well. He notably served as the vice president and a board director for both Miller Communications Inc. and Ka-Lar Enterprises Inc. in Springfield. Mr. Travis was also the president and a board director of Travco Inc.
Throughout his experiences as an entrepreneur, Mr. Travis earned distinction as a registered representative of Catera Financial Specialists LLC in Schaumburg, Illinois, a financial planning company, retiring as a registered representative in 1996. Having begun his career in accounting in 1969, he originally worked for Alexander Grant and Company in Chicago as a staff accountant and, from 1969 to 1970, State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Illinois, as an internal auditor. Mr. Travis subsequently became a state appointed official with the State of Illinois and a deputy director of the Illinois Department of Insurance in 1973, which made a significant positive impact on his career as an accountant and auditor.
Mr. Travis pursued an education at Illinois State University, where he attained a Bachelor of Science in business education in 1968. He later studied at the University of Illinois, earning a Master of Art in public administration in 1976. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Illinois. In support of his career, Mr. Travis has been a member of the National Accountants Society, the Association of Government Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. Other memberships to his credit include the National Space Society, the Smithsonian Associates and the World Future Society.
Reflecting on his life's work, Mr. Travis is most proud of the tireless work ethic and willingness to learn that he has invested in his career.
