Leading a long and successful career in clinical psychology, Dr. Pritchard maintained her own private practice for nearly three decades. Throughout the length of her distinguished career, she has found success in several other noteworthy roles, including as a consultant for Charter Behavioral Health Systems in Tucson and the Tucson Psychiatric Institute, as well Tucson Medical Associates. She also worked in academia as a clinical assistant and clinical associate professor of psychiatry at Banner University Medical Center-Tucson in the Department of Psychiatry for more than two decades, where she received a record number of teaching awards. Since retiring from her practice in 2018, Dr. Pritchard has been pursuing other goals in music and opera performance, even as she continues to teach part-time.
While pursuing her career in psychology, Dr. Pritchard remained actively involved through her service as an invited speaker on many occasions. She has also been engaged with the Tucson Medical Center Lifegain Program and the Haven Residential Placement for Women in Tucson. Likewise, Dr. Pritchard has blended her expertise in psychology and music by presenting lecture-recitals to professional colleagues and the public on the psychological aspects of opera.
An alumna of the University of Arizona, Dr. Pritchard received a Bachelor of Arts, with highest distinction, in 1978, followed by a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1983 and 1990, respectively. Additional educational pursuits to her credit include a clinical psychology externship and internship, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson. To remain aware of developments affecting her area of expertise, Dr. Pritchard is a lifetime member of the American Psychological Association. She is also a member and former co-chairperson of the continuing education committee of the Arizona Psychological Association, a former secretary and past president of the Southern Arizona Psychological Association and a former co-chairperson of the educational liaison committee and two-time past president of the Southwest Psychoanalytic Society.
An academic scholar of Occidental College, Dr. Pritchard was also a general resident scholar of the University of Arizona, a class scholar of the University of Arizona and a National Institute of Mental Health scholar. Later recognized for her achievements in the field, she received a Special Award for Research Contributions from the Arizona Psychological Association at its 50th anniversary convention in 2000. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Pritchard has been featured in the 60th edition of Who's Who in America, the seventh edition of Who's Who in American Education and several editions of Who's Who of American Women.
