Clayton D. Schilling has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Mr. Schilling developed a platform to change the way people think in digital forensics



    STAFFORD, VA, April 19, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Clayton D. Schilling has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

From a young age, Mr. Schilling wanted to join the military and in 1983, he began his military career in the 3rd US Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) where he conducted military ceremonies at the White House, the Pentagon, and at national memorials, provided military funeral escorts for fallen heroes in Arlington National Cemetery, and participate in parades at Fort Myer and Fort Lesley J. McNair. After undergoing an arduous training and selection process, Mr. Schilling was selected to be a sentinel on the first relief at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery, which earned him the prestigious Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge. Mr. Schilling was the 300th sentinel to be awarded this badge since January 7, 1958. From there, he switched to military intelligence after he met his wife, serving at Field Station Berlin as a linguist until after the fall of the Berlin wall after which he became involved in conducting felony criminal investigations. This experience subsequently led him to the field of digital forensics. Mr. Schilling served in the United States Army for 21 years before honorably retiring in February 2004 as an E-7 platoon sergeant and CID Special Agent at the Computer Crime Investigative Unit (CCIU), United States Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACIDC).

Mr. Schilling has spent more than 27 years supporting federal law enforcement beginning as a US Army CID Special Agent in 1994, joining the Drug Enforcement Administration's (DEA) Digital Evidence Laboratory in December 2003 as a contracted Senior Digital Forensics Examiner and in May 2005 as a GS-14 Group Supervisor after retiring from the military, and in April 2012, joining CACI, Inc. as Director, Digital Forensics and Laboratory Director of the CACI Digital Forensics Laboratory (CDFL), an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited and ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000-1 certified full-service digital forensics laboratory located in Alexandria, VA, which he built from the ground up to provide contract support to federal civilian and law enforcement organizations.

In Dec 2016, Mr. Schilling saw a need for improvement in the digital forensics industry beyond what was currently being provided and decided to establish his own company. Precision Digital Forensics, Inc. (PDFI), a service-disabled veteran owned small business (SDVOSB), was specifically established to provide cost-effective technology solutions and digital forensics services that not only enhance digital evidence and data management, but also improves methodologies to help reduce collection overages, improve processing turnaround times, and significantly reduce digital evidence and data processing backlogs.

In this regard, PDFI provides innovative SaaS solutions and end-to-end services from seizure to expert witness testimony and covers everything in between for investigation, litigation, or intelligence gather purposes for the federal, state, local and commercial markets. Mr. Schilling has excelled as president, chief executive officer, and founder of Precision Digital Forensics since 2016 and the owner of Accredit-IT, a consulting firm that helps government and commercial organizations prepare for ISO accreditation, since 2018.

In his myriad of roles with Precision Digital Forensics, Mr. Schilling provides innovative technology platforms and associated digital forensic and e-discovery services. They offer support to government and commercial organizations for criminal, civil, administrative, regulatory, and enterprise security investigations and litigations. For his military service, he has received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge #300. He has also received numerous annual performance award from the DEA Digital Evidence Laboratory.

Mr. Schilling is a certified ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) Digital Forensics Technical Assessor, participates as an active member of the ANAB Accreditation Council for Forensics, the Scientific Working Group on Digital Evidence (SWGDE), and the Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science (OSAC), Digital Evidence Subcommittee, is considered by many to be a digital forensics and ISO accreditation thought-leader, and has served as a guest speaker at Techno-Security & Digital Forensics, High Technology Crime Investigation Association, and The International Association of Chiefs of Police conferences. Mr. Schilling holds a bachelor's degree in computer and information sciences from the University of Maryland Global Campus, which he obtained in 2003. Throughout his career, he has attributed his professional success to his upbringing, including his mother who instilled in him the strength to succeed from an early age. He has also been grateful for his wife, Bonnie, who has provided continuous guidance and unwavering support throughout his career. Looking toward the future, Mr. Schilling plans to continue improving the digital forensics industry. He would also like to build upon his business so that he can retire while offering consulting support.
