Dr. Evelyn Ploumis-Devick Lauded for Excellence in Government Service, Higher Education Administration, Collegiate Teaching, Program and Grants Development

Dr. Ploumis-Devick lends decades of expertise to her work with Government Agencies, Colleges and Universities, Community and Cultural Non-Profit and Philanthropic Organizations



    TALLAHASSEE, FL, April 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Evelyn Ploumis-Devick has been included in Marquis Who's Who and will be featured in the 75th edition of Who's Who in America. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Ploumis-Devick is recognized nationally in the areas of professional leadership and organizational development, strategic planning, grant writing, community arts and cultural development. For more than 30 years she has held graduate faculty, administrative, senior leadership, and consulting positions within legislative, governmental, higher education, non-profit, correctional and community settings.

Upon earning an Associate of Arts in liberal arts and music from Palm Beach Junior College and a Bachelor of Music Education from Florida State University, Dr. Ploumis-Devick began teaching music and the humanities in the Florida Public School System at just 21 years of age where she also directed church choirs. As an educator of Greek heritage, she was selected to serve as a counselor and lead instructor for Greek educational study abroad summer programs during that time period.

Awarded a Federal Fellowship, she furthered her education, earning a Master of Science in social studies education followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in higher education administration from Florida State University in 1979 and 1983, respectively. While completing her doctoral degree, Dr. Ploumis-Devick served as a legislative intern with the Florida House of Representatives and subsequently served as a senior legislative analyst. Her legislative, research analysis and leadership expertise led to recognition in both the postsecondary education and government sectors where she served in administrative roles including Bureau Chief of Grants with the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs followed by an appointment as the Assistant to the Dean for Public Affairs in the Florida State University College of Music. During that time she also developed and taught graduate courses in Arts Administration with a focus on program development, community service, grant writing and professional internship supervision.

A hybrid professional, working successfully in both the education and government sectors, Dr. Ploumis-Devick gained valuable expertise in public administration and higher education between the 1980s and early-2000s with such institutions as the Florida Department of State, the Florida Department of Corrections, the Florida Department of Education and Florida State University where she served as the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and directed the Center for Applied Research and Service in Student Affairs. Drawing on her considerable expertise, she served as adjunct and assistant visiting professor at Florida State University for more than 25 years, adjunct faculty member at Nova Southeastern University's H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship for over 10 years, and since 2017, as Adjunct Professorial Lecturer at American University for the Online Master of Public Administration and Policy (MPAP) degree program.

As the president and founder of Educational Leadership Associates, Dr. Ploumis-Devick serves as a conference presenter, keynote and motivational speaker. Her consulting roles focus in the areas of leadership development, organizational culture assessment, strategic planning, and organizational alignment to embrace diversity, promote creativity, innovation, grants acquisition and public/private partnerships. Dedicated to continued education, Dr. Ploumis-Devick received instructional certification through the Florida Department of Education, Florida Corrections Academy, a mediation certification from the National Institute of Justice and a professional leadership development instructor certification through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

In a career that has been suffused with highlights, Dr. Ploumis-Devick has designed and conducted research and analysis of educational programs, initiatives, legislation and policies. Likewise commitment to applied research, analysis and professional development, she created and implemented interagency initiatives and agency specific leadership and succession of command programs for all levels of correctional professionals inclusive of the gender specific program, Today's Woman Facing the Future, for women within the Florida Department of Corrections.

Due to her vast breadth of experiential knowledge, Dr. Ploumis-Devick has also served as a leadership and strategic planning consultant for AARP and other state and national organizations. A dedicated community advocate, Dr. Ploumis-Devick contributes as the president and chairperson of the Toni Jo Mason Private Foundation, Inc. Primarily, the Foundation supports physically challenged individuals achieve academic excellence by partnering with universities and colleges to award scholarships to undergraduate students with physical disabilities. Previously, she also devoted expertise in advisory roles with the Tallahassee City Commission, the Florida Department of Corrections, the Southern Scholarship Foundation, the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta and the Florida Rural Development Council, to name only a few. For her professional accomplishments, she received Recognition Awards for Outstanding Contributions and Commitment to the Florida Department of Corrections between 1992 and 2001, a Special Recognition Award through the Florida State University School of Music and was named "Favorite Professor" by the Florida State Times. Dr. Ploumis-Devick is currently developing GrantsLeader.com, an online grant development and writing program to provide individuals and organizations fundamental tools and strategies to plan, identify funding sources and write competitive grant proposals.

Residing primarily in Tallahassee, she and her husband enjoy travel and spending time with family. To inspire an enduring family legacy, she is renovating a cottage in the North Carolina Mountains that her father built more than fifty years ago.
