David P. Van Sleet has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Mr. Van Sleet is the General Manager of the Louisville Slugger National Amputee Baseball Team



    ESTERO, FL, April 22, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David P. Van Sleet has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 2018, Mr. Van Sleet has created and excelled as the General Manager of the LS Warriors National Amputee Baseball Team, the nation's only amputee team that is an IRS designated 501c (3) non-profit public charity. A U.S. Army veteran who proudly served from 1973 to 1975.

He subsequently pursued an education at George Mason University, Northern Virginia College and through the Department of Veterans Affairs earning degrees in Liberal Arts, Dental Technology and a Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics. Moreover, he has played baseball and softball for most of his life. Mr. Van Sleet attributes his success to the support others, as well as finding what most individuals are seeking, a sense of pride, accomplishment and the ability to give back and pay it forward.

In his present position, Mr. Van Sleet is responsible for running the team's overall operations, entering the team in national tournaments, scheduling games, assisting in recruiting and auditioning qualified players with help of MLB former players who serve as the team's coaches and he serves as the team President and on the Board of Directors. Prior to his tenure with the LS Warriors National Amputee Baseball Team, Inc. he served as the General Manager of Team USA in the 2014 World Physically Challenged Baseball Tournament in Japan where Team USA won the Gold Medal. Mr. Van Sleet also was the Founder and General Manager of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team from 2011 until 2015. From 1984 t0 2011, Mr. Van Sleet found success as an Ocular Prosthetic Specialist and Prosthetics Manager with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, accepting numerous awards for his service including the National Prosthetic Chief of the Year and being honored with the Department of Veterans Affairs prestigious Olin E. Teague Award. The award recognizes an employee within the VA whose achievements have been extraordinarily beneficial to the rehabilitation of war-injured veterans.

Mr. Van Sleet is proud to have dedicated more than 30 years of government service to the Department of Veterans Affairs, and to have continued his career empowering amputees with opportunities for fellowship and athletic accomplishment through team sports. In the near future, he hopes to enter into a well-deserved full retirement and remain active as a mentor and consultant.
