Growing up, Mr. Bothe was interested in his aunt and uncle's professions as prominent attorneys. He knew that he wanted to pursue law, so after earning a Bachelor of Science in political science and government from the University of Houston, he enrolled at the South Texas College of Law. While in law school, he developed a love for drafting and negotiating contracts. Greatly enjoying transactional law, Mr. Bothe was later drawn to the oil and gas industry due to its ubiquitous nature, multidisciplinary professional collaboration, and challenging issues.
After graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, Mr. Bothe was admitted to practice law by the State Bar of Texas and later established the Law Office of Chadwick J. Bothe, P.C. in 2011. In addition, he currently serves as the Director of Land and Legal for Texas Independent Exploration Limited and serves on the Board of Directors for XPR Resources LLC, formerly WPX Energy Appalachia, LLC. In his primary position, he negotiates, drafts and reviews finance and business agreements for complex energy and real estate transactions. With Texas Independent Exploration Limited, Mr. Bothe also coordinates land and legal functions with management, accounting, engineering and geology departments.
As a respected voice in his field, Mr. Bothe previously authored an article in the South Texas Law Review Journal titled, "The Stigma of Survival: Medicaid Estate Planning." Throughout his career, he has been incredibly proud of his work as a lead negotiator on a series of large transactions with public and private companies and a large sovereign wealth fund in 2017 and 2018. As a testament to his professional prowess, Mr. Bothe was recognized as a Top Lawyer for Oil and Gas in Houstonia Magazine.
Moreover, Mr. Bothe maintains his professional affiliation with the American Bar Association and the Houston Bar Association.
