Debora J. Bausenwein Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Education

Ms. Bausenwein worked for 30-plus years as a special educator with the Monticello Central School District



    MONTICELLO, NY, May 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debora J. Bausenwein has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. While attending school as a child, Ms. Bausenwein began serving as a teacher to her brothers, as well as the neighborhood children. Driven to make a difference in the lives of students, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary and special education from Daemen College in 1987. A wife and mother, Ms. Bausenwein went on to focus in special education after her son was diagnosed with special needs, and served as a special education teacher with the Monticello Central School District from 1988 until 2018. She also worked at the Sullivan Diagnostic Treatment Center in Harris, NY with severely and profoundly disabled students immediately upon graduation from college.

Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Bausenwein earned a Master of Education in special education from Mount Saint Mary College and a Master of Arts in sixth through 12th grade science education from Kaplan University. Throughout her 30-plus year career, she developed specialties in early childhood education, educational counseling, secondary education, reading and more. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Bausenwein affiliates herself with the local county retired teachers association and the New York State Teachers' Retirement System.

Alongside her work as an educator, Ms. Bausenwein contributes to those less fortunate as a disaster action team member and mass care leader of the Sullivan County chapter of the American Red Cross, where she has served as a feeding, logistics and sheltering supervisor, a mass care coordinator and an FSI service associate for many years. Between 2018 and 2020, she also served as a tutor for the Monticello Central School District. For her outstanding accomplishments, she won the Catherine Knapp Award for Exceptional Staff Member through the American Red Cross. Looking toward the future, Ms. Bausenwein intends to enjoy her retirement.
